I'll go with Carlton Fisk homerun in the 75 WS followed closely by the night Cal set the record for games played.

Joe Namath's "guarantee." Not the actual win by the Jets TEAM over the Colts in the Superbowl b/c that was huge. But that "guarantee" is the most overrated thing I've ever seen. "Wow! Broadway Joe thinks his team is actually gonna win the Superbowl! He's so brash!"

1st, your opinion doesn't count if it happened to your team IMO

It's not fully overrated in the whole scheme of things, but Paul Pierce in the playoffs a couple years back when he had to be "wheelchaired" off the court, yet he somehow comes back to play like nothing ever happened.

I love Pierce, but it was lame.

Plus there was still another game in the series.

Buckner received WAAAAY too much criticism over the years from morons.

Jeter catching the ball in foul territory then diving into the stands. MLB network listed it in the top 9 catches of all time on their Prime 9 show. Seriously?

I think we can pretty much assume that any major sports triumph or catastrophe that happened to a New York or Boston team has been and will continue to be grossly overrated.

+1000.

As for the '75 Carlton Fisk game, it is considered epic because of the circumstances. Remember, no cable tv then, much of the nation was watching the game. Boston had a pinch hit, game tying HR in the 8th inning from a nobody. At one point, Cincinnati threw out the game winning run at the plate from left field. It was an epic battle, that had a dramatic finish.

But yes, the Red Sox didn't even win Game 7.
