Ryan Harrow, one of the top point guards in the 2010 class just posted a lengthy message on the NC State Scout site's forum.

Here's the link in case anyone is interested. LINK As you may know, their coach, Sidney Lowe, has gotten a lot of recent criticism. It opens up a whole new can of worms for sites like this.

quote:

"To all my Wolfpack fansI want to say thank you for all the support and faith that ya'll have in Lorenzo and I. We are very excited to be coming to such a highly-regarded school. Lorenzo and I have talked about playing basketball at NC State together and with the rest of the players that will be there for a long time. We are looking to come in and make the team better by the hardwork we put in before practice, during practice, and after. We have winner mentalities and hopefully that will rub off on the players that are in a slump this season.

Me personally, I have always been excited about coming to NC State ever since coach Monte Towe and Coach Lowe walked into my high school gym my freshman year. Coach Lowe believed in me when a lot of coaches thought I didn't have what it takes. Sad on those coaches behalf haha. Now I am what I am and I'm sticking beside Coach Lowe because of the loyalty he showed me. I feel if a person treats you with that much respect and has that much faith, then I must show that same courtesy back.

Myself and Lorenzo are on NC State's blogs and forums everyday and we look to see all the support you give us, but now a days we see so much negative and it has become really discomforting to my godbrother and I. The things that are said about the fans giving up and not wanting to show the support like I know ya'll can. I was at the Duke game. Our fans can get crazy lol. Those statements matter to me. I came to the school at first solely for Coach Lowe but when I come to see games and people are greeting me, saying " thank you so much for joining us", it made me realize I love the atmosphere to. These fans can get better. I hate going on the forums reading those things.

Also Lorenzo and I see the statements about coach Lowe and it really makes me think, " what am I getting myself into". Coach Lowe works hard and is very passionate about the game. He just needs people and players around him like Lorenzo, Luke, C.J., and me to transpire that fire onto the court. Every bad game we cannot criticize coach Lowe. It comes down to the players performing on the court. I know Coach Lowe is going to help my game and make me the best point guard I can be. But it will come in time.

The 2010 class will be a great one, especially adding to the players that's already at the school. We will get better as the year goes on. But ya'll have to remember, even though I think myself and Lorenzo are two of the best guards out there in the nation, we are coming into a new experience so we have to learn a little first. So if we don't get the results ya'll want right away, plz don't give up on supporting the team and don't say we need to fire the coach. We are going to be a great team and one of the best teams to come through NC State. It just takes time. I hope Lorenzo and I have not offended anybody and would hope that ya'll understand where we are coming from. My family and Lorenzo's family are Wolfpack until we die now, but we need support and comfort. Thank you and Go STATE!

I don't think anyone doubts they do. shite, I've typed in recruits names into google and routinely TD is on of the top 10 results from a post on the board. I bet this recruiting board is one of the most trafficked non-membership recruiting boards in the country. I bet more recruits come on here than people realize. Hell, Tyler Glynn (walk on, believe that was his name) came on here to post his intentions of walking on at LSU and he wasn't exactly a scrub in high school. Couple that with the fact that many people related or are friends with recruits come on this board and I bet a good bit get backs to go the players.

Of course they do. Armand Williams was one that specifically talked about the shite people said after he committed.

They surely do. Every recruit will tell you. The idiots that argue against this point are just that. IDIOTS. Not only do they follow boards such as this one, but its important to them. Bashing a coach or player makes these kids think. Its the bash without cause that gets me. A great thread can be ruined because an idiot (BOOKS) wants to come in and drop his load of .... and move on. Its getting old and the Rantards need to move on. Come with substance and optimism. You are fans right?

Well it sure as hell doesn't do any one at LSU or LSU fans any good, in fact it hurts, when negative statements are posted about freaking 17-19 olds that are doing the best they can.

If we classify a kid dumb, lazy, has character issues, or we claim he is not very talented, who do you think you are hurting if that kid reads this board? If the coaches think he is good enough...well then he is until the coaches say he has proven different over several years after coming to LSU. If you disparage a kid, why would he come to LSU?

Yes it is a free speech board, but the prudence of not saying the negative and temperance of (restraining your) foregoing your negative comments goes a long way to making recruits feel like LSU will be a great place for them. After February’s signing day, feel free to dog the signees and ones the LSU coaches passed on all you want. But, before February signing day, we all (the football program you are supposed to be a fan of) would be better served if we accentuated the positive and eliminated the negative.

I personally know that Bates read it. People who know evaluations, Old Iowa, Hidden, Jimmy need to do the evaluations. Other posters need to just keep comments within reason. Bashing a kid is certainly not the way to go. To the other evaluators I forgot, sorry. I especially know that the kid from Amite reads this board and he is just a sophmore.

I guess this says a lot about you.
As fans we are glad to get recruits that we believe will help LSU, but some recruits are bashed without the poster even knowing the recruit. Sometimes they just type what they see someone else posting and run with it.

The bottom line is we as fans enjoy an outlet like this, that lets us see what next year holds in terms of recruits.

This place should never be used to degrade, belittle, or stroke our egos.

That doesnt help LSU, the program you are a supposedly a fan of one bit.

This is the perfect example of the BS mentality of someone that will continue to undermine the LSU Football Program just to post nonsensical drivel. Move the frick on.

No doubt that recruits read the sites. Sonny mentions parents being on TSD quite often. I can only imagine even more read TDings with the traffic on this site.

I do have two things to add:

1) Reasonable, logical, realistic discussion should always be welcomed.

2) Every team has critical fans.

I am not supporting 'fans' that are the antithesis of that, however, knowledgeable discussion should be welcomed at all times.

This board is usually really good from now until the first of January of be very objective without criticism on these kids. But, once the season is over and the rantards move in it really is horrible the things they say.

I've coached kids who have grown men myspaceing them, and if there is a sign of going to another school they get cussed and talked down too.

I tried starting a thread on this topic, but it almost immediately got anchored. Must have rubbed the admins the wrong way. This is what I said:

For Any and all LSU Recruits who read this board

quote:

Before making any assumptions about LSU fans and this site, please read in entirety. Please realize that there are no rules in place to prevent a rival school poster from signing up to this website and posing as an LSU fan. Also, there is no rule specifying an age limit for posting privleges. This site seems based on freedom of speech. It is a double edged sword. You will have some people who will be unrealistically positive and spin all for good, and you will have some who will be unrealistically negative and spin all for bad. There are also people on here who will post anything to get attention, and should not be taken seriously. That being said, there are a good portion of fair, level-headed, respectable posters who are actually true Tiger Fans. We often get very upset at some of the terrible comments made on this site, but that is its nature. There is a freedom here that is not given on many other boards. This is good for business, and site traffic, but sometimes leads to a skewed view of the true LSU fanbase. If you are considering attending our University as either a student, or a scholarship athlete of any sport, it would be wise to take what I am saying into consideration before you step foot onto campus. Every university has its share of negative fans, and bandwagoners. Every university has fans who have never even visited the university nor attended it. Please do not make your decision based on the words of some anonymous strangers. Make them with your family, in regards to what is best for your future, and with your heart. Lastly, on behalf of the true Tiger fans, we do not bash anyone who becomes a Tiger; we welcome you as family. We look out for and respect anyone who represents the Tiger fan base well.

I'm sure they do, but anyone who thinks the websites should act as spin machines and not used for actual discussion is a jackass as well.

at the end of the day the fan's opinions don't have as huge of an impact as some want to believe. Can it effect them? Do they base their choice off of it? Doubtful. These kids will go to the school that best fits them, not the one that has the happiest message board fans.
