LSU doesn't need you, or your type, lil superstar.

You don't back in when you have to win the SEC title game and you do to get in.

Instead of bitching bout the Hog loss, why don't you concern yourself with the 5-0 record against teams that finished in the Top 15 in 07? Lets not talk bout that, huh.

I tell you, some of you guys would bitch bout winning a 50 mil lottery cause it wasn't 60 mil.

Why didn't you include Miles' record at OSU in your post where you compared the records?
For the same reason people don't include his stint as TULANE's head coach when talking about Mack Brown.

IMHO organization and attention to detail is the difference.

Without it as a risk-taker you're Hal Mumme.

I'm told Gonzales's main task will be to provide that which is lacking here. I hope that is the elixer but I really think it ultimately has to come from the top.

Yes.

Holy shite!!!

Miles better than Sean Payton. You heard it here, folks!!!! Only on the Rant.

Sammich -- you can't be serious about this, can you? Come on, your just trolling. Come clean! Are you really going to stick with this? I'm giving you a chance to retract. Save yourself now while you still have a chance.

Agreed, this group would rather go back to either:

1.) Losing elegantly

2.) Losing with Saban

Winning seems inconsequential to a certain group of "fans", as long as Miles is the coach.

Why do you keep bringing Saban up? You are the ones with the Saban obsession. We have been losing with Miles the last two seasons. If he comes back and has a 10+ win season and an SEC Champ Games birth, then I will reevaluate my position on Miles. But you can't deny the downturn of the program over the last two seasons. I want to see LSU a winner and not the butt of jokes like how a lot of people in the nation view our coach.

I'm fine with it. A win is a win and a championship is a championship. You're not really complaining about Miles from 2005-2007? Miles was 34-6 over three years (against Hurricane Katrina in year 1) versus Saban's 30-9 over his last 3 years.

If you have complaints over 2008 and 2009, I'm sympathetic, and may even agree with you on some points (the co-DC was a disaster everyone could see, and I'm still scratching my head about the offensive woes in 2009). But you were against Miles from the beginning, it's personal, it's without a legitimate basis, and for you to call for his firing in the middle of 2007 (LSU has had championships in 1958, 2003 and 2007, just as a reminder) proves all of that conclusively.

Huge insult to Miles.

Miles - 66 Games: 51-15 *5 Winning Seasons

Payton - 69 Games: 42-27 *2 Winning Seasons, 1 losing season & 1 8-8 season.

seriously??? i'm looking for the scarcasm, but i cant find it. Surely you're smarter than that???

Now that is true, and further, some college coaches can't cut it in the NFL (because their biggest strength might be recruiting, or coaching a gimmicky offense that doesn't work in the NFL, or they can't relate to the players), and conversely some great NFL coaches that cannot coach in college (a coach with a very complicated scheme, doesn't get the recruiting process, etc.).

However, anyone objective would say that Miles and Payton have comparable resumes, in their respective arenas.

Yeah because winning in College and winning in the NFL are comparable. The NFL teams all have close talent levels even for the Browns and Raiders. LSU's opponents with the exception of 3-4 games a year have nowhere near the talent on our roster so your point is an epic fail.

The only Epic Fail is your whiffed shot at SEC Football.

Give me four teams that we played this year that had as much or more talent than we had.

there is more parody from year to year in the NFL than there is in CFB.

I don't think he is a good coach. If has nothing to do with him on a personal level (I'm fairly sure he doesn't kill or hurt anyone). He had a mediocre record coming from Okie St. and was a cheap hire. He thrived with some of the best talent that LSU ever had. Now he is struggling since that talent has left. If he bounces back and posts a 10+ win season and a SEC Champ Game birth, then I will know that I was wrong.

Just look at his overall coaching career:

4-7
8-5
9-4
7-5
11-2
11-2
12-2
8-5
9-4

If you throw out the high and the low, he averages 9 wins a season, which won't cut it in the SEC at this time in history.

He was in the middle of posting a third 10+ win season in a row, getting to the SEC-CG and BCS game when you were calling for his firing in November of 2007. And now, if LSU wins 10 games in 2010, will you admit you were wrong? Or will you look at the 3 losses and find some reason to justify your dislike? Or find some flaw in the wins?

I simply don't believe you. I think you will find flaws, even if LSU has a perfect, undefeated season in 2010. Or, you will otherwise give credit to "luck", "LSU", or "Saban", or some combination.

Here's hoping that we have a chance for one of us to be proven correct on this point...

Coach B:

9-2
6-5-1
6-6
7-5
6-6
9-2
8-4
10-3
8-5
13-1
9-3
7-6
12-2
14-0

Throw out the high and low, averaging about 8 2/3 wins per year. That's not going to cut it either, I suppose. (Hint: Coach B also coaches in the SEC).

Or do I have your math wrong?
