Who honestly believes our defense was "fixed" this year?

we weren't bad by any means, but we were 26th in total defense

we weren't top 10 in any defensive category i could find

46th in rushing defense

and our D was filled with veterans. hawkins, woods, alexander, alem, jones, sheppard, riley, etc

The last three were the only ones worth a shite that you mentioned. We kept people out of the end zone and that all that matters.

It was better ... we didn't give up many big plays and that was the main problem in '08. I don't like Chavis' style, but it is effective in terms of points allowed. And it was mostly done without an effective pass rush.

Considering our offense could not sustain any long drives...

we finished 12th in scoring defense which ain't too shabby. A helluva lot better than the year before and better than the last half of 2007.

DBs, LBs and overall scheme did very well considering how horrible the DL was. Amazing that we weren't the worst defense in the league with that line. I've seen 1AA schools get more penetration and push on 1A schools.

IMPROVED, not FIXED, although total defensive yard is comparable to last year, its the points per game allowed that makes me happier, its a process, rome wasn't built in a day an nor is our defense, have faith padwon

We were dramatically improved. Could you imagine how much better this team would have been if teh O would have stayed on teh field a little longer every drive? Lack of O sucked teh productivity out of this D.

Yes!! They just had to stay on the field to long because the offence could not finish drives, which should change next year,The future looks good for the Tigers!!I said it a few years ago that 2009 was going to be our year, with an all senior backfield, however Ryan P. screwed that up.Now I say 2011 is gonna be the year of the Tiger!!

Scoring defense was very good. More 3 and outs by the other team would have been great. So, fixed? No. Very much improved? yes.

Way-way ahead of the yr before. Next year: Better. That new safety comming in (Reid?) will play. Watch him Sat in the Army AA game. Kid can flat ball.

Considering how bad it was last year, i think Chavis did a great job in one season.
