I've been once and it was okay. Too many other choices IMO that are better.

If you enjoy standing in a large, sardine-like line, then yelling your order to a staff member, then being yelled at by a staff member (a little later when the food's ready), and paying way too much for a mediocre sandwich - then sure, Mother's is your place.

Otherwise - no freaking way in hell!

It is perhaps the ultimate New Orleans tourist trap outside of something in the Quarter.

Best thing is breakfast. The ham or debris biscuits and grits are pretty damn good. Other than that, Johnny's in the quarter and many places around town have much better po-boys.

If you've never been before, and the line is short, then yeah. Love me some Ferdi.

Overpriced tourist trap. I worked right across the street in the Texaco building in the late 90's. Ate there twice. $9 for a plate of red beans!?? I kept looking for the hidden gold nugget. But, nope, none there. I remember looking out of my window and seeing people lined up around the block around mardi gras time. That's a long cold wait to pay too much for food.
