Yes, all of the personnel in LSU's Athletic Department also told me the same thing...

Crowton has 2 years left on his contract at $400K per year. I cannot see LSU giving Crowton $800K and then turning around and giving another OC a $1M contract.

I doubt they give the new OC (if they hire one) $1M. However, $1.8M to TAF is chump change if they think it's good for the program.

If someone like Kragthorpe or an established OC is hired, I'd expect him to get somewhere between $400,000-600,000.

Really? My understanding was that he was given a 3 year contract in before the 2007 season. I didn't know that it had been altered or extended?

Considering how expensive it would be to buy out Miles, I think dropping a mil here or there to makes things better with what we have is a wise investment in the short term. We obviously wouldn't be having these QB issues if Jimbo were still here based on his record as a talent developer. Pelini kept up a tough defense with much more focus and leadership than what we saw after him and that 07 group's leadership core left. Miles is capable of more success than the last two seasons with coordinators and staff who are tougher and instill some discipline.

crowton doesnt really recruit very much. He and stud are on the road recruiting because they are still getting paid to. If changes are made then that is that. Kragthorpe would not come in as OC in waiting, he would be the OC, changes may not be made until after the bowl game, but changes are a part of the game. belowpar is usually right so im going with what he says, if crowton and stud stay or the plans to get rid of them fall through then oh well. Miles may spin in that they found other jobs like last year, in which case it makes sense for them to be out recruiting if they havent found another job or miles doesnt want to make it public.

Why is everyone so excited about Kragthorpe? I'm mystified.

Well for one thing, his name is not Crowton. Crowton may have had some decent coaching years in the past, but the last 2 years have been totally fricking horrible and it's been painful to watch LSU try and play offense.

Kragthorpe started with very little at Louisville and couldn't turn it around as the head coach, but as an OC, he should do very well...Absolutely anyone would be better than Gary Crowton.

I thought absolutely anyone would be better than Mike Archer. Curley Hallman proved me wrong.

I just don't see anything in Kragthorpe's bio that suggests he's a good offensive coordinator. Seems we could do better.

The offense averaged 30 points per game last year. The problem last year was not the offense.

This year, yes, the offense was the problem

unless the LSU higher ups know absolutely zero about football Crowton should be run out of town. anyone with even an inkling of football knowledge should know how poorly our offense is run and how much potential and talent is squandered. GET RID OF THIS CLOWN!!

Well, we can see how effective Crowton's been at improving the offense this season - so give him another year and maybe he'll reach the absolute bottom of the barrel. LSU only has 12 more spots to go to be the worst offense in the nation.

LSU's NCAA offensive ranking this fall:
Week 1 - 78
Week 2 - 88
Week 3 - 90
Week 4 - 105
Week 5 - 99
Week 6 - 109
Week 7 - 112
Week 8 - 106
Week 9 - 100
Week 10 - 103
Week 11 - 107
Week 12 - 106
Week 13 - 108

LSU doesn't have a chance and Miles is gone if they keep Crowton. He is incapable of admitting his schemes/planning are failing and he continues to do the same thing week in and week out.
