Top 10 Reasons Saban would take the Notre Dame Coaching job if offered:

10) Saban's wife hates living in Tuscaloosa

9) Saban is Catholic

8) The history and tradition of Notre Dame football!

7) As long as Urban Myer is coaching Florida, Alabama can't win a national title because they can't get past the SEC Championship Game.

6) Bama will soon be on probation......again.

5) Nationwide recruiting base

4) Guaranteed BCS Bowl is ND finishes in top 12

3) Every Game is televised Nationally

2) He would no longer have to coach in the shadow of Bear Bryant and could create his own legacy at Notre Dame.

And the Number One Reason Saban would leave Alabama for Notre Dame:

1) Saban would become the highest paid college football coach in America surpassing Pete Carroll and Urban Myer.

1. Pete Carroll, USC Pac-10 $4,400,000

2. Charlie Weis, Notre Dame Ind. $4,200,000

3. Urban Meyer, Florida SEC $4,000,000

4. Nick Saban, Alabama SEC $3,900,000

Is she shopping for real estate on Highland Road again?

5) Nationwide recruiting base

He pretty much has that now, at least to the extent he wants too.

Alabama will give him a raise if it comes down to money.

Right. Then he'd be in the shadow of 5-6 coaching legends.

Half of those are very "iffy". For instance, Bear Bryant is the face of Bama football and forever will be. But, Notre Dame has a dozen guys that are just as famous that Saban will have to out-do. I'm Catholic and I have a dozen more reasons to go to Notre Dame besides the fact that it's the premiere Catholic college. I believe Saban is running that program as clean as anyone and i doubt as long as he is there and in charge, there won't be any more shadiness surrounding Bama than there is LSU. And to think that Saban can't beat Florida, how does he expect to beat USC every year?

BTW i think Saban came back to the college only because there was a premiere job open in the SEC.

He would be crazy to leave Alabama. He has everything he needs there, and in only his third year, he still doesn't have all his guys in yet. Why would he want to start the process all over? However, I would be ecstatic to see him get the hell out of the SEC!!

Alabama fan I work with wanted me to post this in response:

Maybe you can post my response to those on that board :)

10. Definitely not true. She loves T-town according to everyone that is
close to her.
9. True, he is Catholic, but does that matter?
8. Bama has a pretty solid history and tradition as well.
7. We'll see Saturday.
6. Not likely. We have a strong leader now.
5. Saban is currently landing players all over the country at Bama (ever
heard of a fellow named Mark Ingram?)
4. Looks like Saban is going to be a frequent BCS participant at Bama.
3. SEC/ESPN TV contract. Need I say more?
2. Bear who? Saban is already approaching Bear popularity.
1. Money is no object in T-town. They can match anyone.

The answer is the only thing bigger than Saban's paycheck is his ego. ND might be the only place big enough to get him enough media attention to feed his massive ego.

you left out the biggest reason.

saban likes to build/rebuild college football programs not maintain success. he loves going into an apathetic situation and changing the culture to a winning culture. this has been what has driven him for the last decade plus and i don't buy that all of a sudden he wants to settle down, stay in one place and maintain a consistent level of success for 20 years.

That's complete bullshite. A majority of you don't live anywhere near Tuscaloosa or have any ties to the Sabans. How the hell can you determine that she hates it?

quote:

9) Saban is Catholic

I'm Catholic too. And I still hate Notre Dame.

7) As long as Urban Myer is coaching Florida, Alabama can't win a national title because they can't get past the SEC Championship Game.

Let's wait and see how he does without Timmy.

6) Bama will soon be on probation......again.

No, we won't.

5) Nationwide recruiting base

Nick already has that at Alabama. Kids are begging to come here.

quote:

3) Every Game is televised Nationally

I don't think Nick cares about every game being nationally televised. As long as we keep winning, I don't think he cares who the hell is watching.

2) He would no longer have to coach in the shadow of Bear Bryant and could create his own legacy at Notre Dame.

Nick Saban is already going to be a legacy at Alabama. Just wait until we win the National Championship this year.

Didn't he take a paycut to come to Alabama

I could see Saban wanting to get away from the SEC and his rivalry with LSU. He's 2-1 against Miles, so it's not like he'd be leaving town with a black eye. Plus, ND is a MUCH easier route to the MNC than going through the meat grinder of the SEC.

I don't know - Saban has a massive ego, as most college coaches do. I think he has aspirations to become the next Bear Bryant at bammer - win National Championships, then retire a legend. He has a better chance to gain legend status at bammer than at ND. Besides, those rednecks would mortgage their homes to raise enough money keep him. But I do not think he is after money any more - he is after immortality!
