I thought New Moon was amazing...& and not to mention I had to pick my jaw up off the floor when they showed Jacob with his shirt off in the rain.

Lol @ the people talking shite. No one makes you watch it, so why do you care so much? What's it to you if they make a couple more movies?

The reason this movie will make more than the dark knight will be the same reason the dark knight couldn't overtake titanic :

A sh*tload of repeat viewings.

I am not so sure anymore.

It certainly is starting stronger than the Dark Knight despite airing on fewer screens.

And if Titanic is any evidence, the teenage girls demographic has staying power.

Just got back from seeing it with my wife. I will say this, it is better in every single possible way than the first one, except for un-intentional laughs. However the production values, special effects, acting, directing, you name it, were all 1000 times higher quality.

+1

Not remotely as bad as the first one, which I only saw for the sake of the RiffTrax.

And I think that has a lot of do with the relatively limited role Edward has in the script.

I just watched it online and I am glad I did... The first hour is boring as hell, until any action starts... I really think everything that happened in this film could of been packed down, into 30 minutes, and with some editing of the first one, for time purposes, thrown into it... I give credit that it made improvements, using the bigger budget, but it was still pretty dull... only thing I really enjoyed in the whole movie was the wolves, and the one short fight scene.

This film/book was always mostly setup.

There is more than enough action/action related suspense in the next two movies.

Spoilers

The next one involves a massive all out battle with the Cullens and the werewolves on one side, and Victoria with an army of newborn vamps (like 30 of them) on the other.

Outside of the typical cheese lines with these films, the main thing I saw over the top was the parts that had Bella screaming like she was being tortured in her sleep. Once was bad enough...but really...3 times?

I also enjoyed the movie. There were definitley slow parts, but the book is like that too. This one is definitley set up for the next two.

To all they guys moaning about being dragged to see this, I say just wait. The next two are definitley gonna be better action wise. Someone mentioned the battle at the end of Eclipse already, that is gonna be awesome. And the fourth book has even better potential for cool scenes.

Rob Pattinson is a terrible actor, IMO. I agree that seeing Bella scream in her sleep 5 times was too much. The wolves were awesome and the Volturi are bad-arse!!

He makes Keanu Reaves acting style look as fluid as water.

This might end up being my favorite movie of the series simply because he isn't in 80% of it.

Yes they were...nice to see it get a half decent budget and use it effectively. I laughed my arse off on the first one when I saw how they were trying to effect superhuman speed. Looked like something a high school A/V club slapped together.

Volturi are bad-arse!

Eh. I dunno. They definitely hit some nails on the head with the actor choices for the three, especially Aro (the only one that matters anyway). But they still seemed to lack a certain menace they held in the books, even though they fully went through the motions by speaking of mass murder multiple times.

I liked it...but they could have done better.

I wish the author had written Edward with a British accent...then he(Robert pattinson) could have spoken naturally. He seemed to be in pain everytime he spoke with his American accent. Or just picked a different actor for the role.

I heard from a friend who read the book and she is thoroughly disgusted with it. Something about pedophilia is approved in the book but is sugar coated with "love" and "romance"

Eh, if she is referring to the fact that it is a 100 year old vampire that fell for a 16-17 year old....I think that is reading WAYYYY too far into it IMO.

This is America, and in America, appearances are everything. And the books repeatedly push the perspective that he stopped aging, so for most of the series Bella is "older" than him.

Nope, she is referring to a main character marking a baby girl as his mate. She say it's not love, it something call "imprinting" she said it disgusted her thoroughly.

Oh, THAT.

That I can see fits a little better.

Had the books not explicitly stated more than once that there wasn't ANYTHING remotely sexual about it, I would agree.

You would love to talk to her lol. I hate being the middle man, but I am give her her final piece. She says it also explicitly state in the book the main reason why the Werewolves imprint is to find the strongest mate to bear their children. That "imprinting" more often the not leads to sex.

Also the girl will look like she is 17 when she reach the age of seven. She says that is sugarcoating pedophilia, and that the author intent for that to be werewolf guy ending. Again, she stress that the reason why they would imprint is because they found a strong and suitable mate, it not love it's breeding. The fact that he want to breed with a baby girl out of the womb is repulsive and disgusting to her.

That's her piece.

Debate by proxy.

Nonetheless FWIW:

quote:

She says it also explicitly state in the book the main reason why the Werewolves imprint is to find the strongest mate to bear their children.

This is true, but it is done entirely thinking from HER perspective. His thinking won't turn sexual till SHE starts looking for a mate.

quote:

Also the girl will look like she is 17 when she reach the age of seven.

And her mind will mature long before that. It could be argued that she had an adult mind from nearly birth. So you have mental maturity already...and you are just waiting for the physical part...

In any case, if she has the mind and body of a 17 year old, what difference does it make if she is only really 7 as far as the pedo aspect goes.

And then there is the confunding aspect that all of the participants of this aren't even human.
