What are your REAL thoughts on the LSU program?

Not getting caught up in the obvious negativity of the random fan..how do YOU feel? I consider myself (as I'm sure alot of you do) as the biggest LSU fan that I know. I am consumed by it all year with the season, spring practices, recruiting, etc, and I am to the point of just utter boredom. I never thought I could get to this point, but there is just something about the current state of things that just uninspires me. Now, I would never not watch or not cheer or just become completely uninterested in what is going on, but there is really something wrong with things right now. We only have 2 losses to highly ranked teams, but it's not about that for me. It's how they look every week, how Les acts on the sidelins, in press conferences, on his coaching show, etc. He has taken something from me that I literally think about every day of the year with an incredible passion and made it die down a little.
frick all you people with "his record is this, and his bowl record is that." That man has taken something from me and I will never forgive him for it.

I try to be positive and remain optimistic - because what other choice do we have?
However, the signs are scary. Its like the entire LSU football program, fan base, etc. has burned out.

As opposed to my imaginary thoughts? My unreal thoughts? My thoughts that really are someone else's thoughts? What the #%*^ does this mean?

Sounds like a "you" problem.

So, it's more of a problem of the current coach's personality for you? He doesn't act an arse on the sideline or with the media so he's a terrible coach? He is a complete idiot because he acts calm and collected on the sideline? Now, I will admit that it would be nice to see him tear into a player or two and work the officials on occasion when it is deserved, but other than that I have no problem with the way he acts.
And I will also agree that there is a lot of room for improvement with the team's performance, but I think a lot of that might fall to the assistants.

I used to be like that years ago, but there's just so much more important stuff in life that I've really lost a lot of interest in it, ironically during a period when we've done well.

Yes, that is exactly how I feel.

Well, I think we diverge a bit here. I certainly could, and have as recently as last year, become completely uninterested. I hoped this season would prove last year was an anomaly and that we would bounce back, but now that we didn't, I'm becoming far less interested again.

Two recent BCS NC
Maybe your one of those who prefer the thrill of the chase better than the catch?

I find myself asking "wtf are they doing?" on offence a lot more. IMO this team needs to abandon this lame and useless offence and run a pro-style conventional scheme. They have all the pieces to do it with and god forbid if Jefferson goes down again, it would suit Interception Man a lot better. Two seasons is enough for me see this crap of Crowton's and know its just not going to work anymore.
But that said, I still enjoy LSU football very much.

My real thoughts?
That we will never be a dominant, respected team again.
Don't get me wrong - we'll be good...9-3, perhaps 10-2 good. But, in case some of you haven't noticed already, Alabama has supplanted us as the power in the SEC West, as well as a power on the national scale.
We're not that "feared" team we were 3-4 years ago. The defense isn't lights out, and will never be that way again. Miles will continue to recruit well, but will invariably under develop players, misuse talent, and lose games that he simply shouldn't have.
Again, we'll be a consistent 8-4, 9-3 team, with a 10-2 season thrown in every now and then.
But again, Alabama has replaced and surpassed us at this point.

I doubt he has taken anything from you at all. Sounds like you never had any common sense to begin with and you have just become self aware of your inner rantard

I agree. I support LSU and Miles, but I feel the same, and it is getting worse.
Les was given the keys to a ferrari, and I can begin to see him driving it in the red.

First off, let me say that, as a long time Tiger fan, I've seen some deluded people around the program.
Example: at the end of Curley's awful tenure, there were people sporting bumper stickers in BR in Summer '94 that said something like "We support Curley".
That said, and knowing I will be bashed by the "We support Curley" crowd (you are out there and you know who you are -- I did not support curley and didn't have that sticker):
I feel disinterested and find that the games are not fun to watch for the last two years for the most part. We don't dominate crap teams like we should (not every case but many), and make bonehead mistakes week after week. Meanwhile the coach just paces the sideline and shows little emotion.
Bringing in Chavis, I think everyone agrees, was a smart move. 12th ranked offense in the SEC is unacceptable for LSU. I hope Lesticles makes a move and fixes it like he did the defense.
I don't want him gone and I respect what he's done, but the lack of preparation, enthusiasm, and discipline on the field are alarming this year.
It is just not fun to watch the Tigers as it was in past years. We look sloppy and unmotivated in many games.
Doesn't speak well for the coaching and although Les may not be personally to blame, he is responsible for the product on the field. That is the bottom line and that product, although better than 80% of our opponents, is still not very good
IMO.
I'd rather see a team that can execute without making bonehead mistakes all the time. Mistakes that have me cussing the TV and slapping my forehead while watching the games.
I have given up my age-old tradition of drinking alcohol on Saturdays. Combining drinking with the slop on the field lately has proven, in my case, to be a volatile mix unfit for public consumption.
That said: I hope we win out, and Les makes a move to improve our offense for next year.
Flame away.

The program is fine
The fans could be the dumbest chicken little fan base in college football

frick you right back...Pratt. His record is 50-13...his bowl record is 4-0 which includes a stomping of ohiost for an undisputed natcham. What has the man really taken away from you? Not a damn thing. He's made the most out of a bad situation because we're not nearly as talented as you delusional fricks think we are. Your loss of spirit tells more about you than anything Les Miles may or may not have done.
