Might be Germans (Or Japs lol) but I don't care. I served 4 years in The Corps and if this is half as good as Band Of Brothers then it should be great.

I read one of the books the series is based off, With the Old Bread, by E.B. Sledge he describes the fighting on Peleliu and Okinawa; if this series is as half as good as the book, it will be one of the best.

Why? B/c it's in the Pacific?

Looked completely different than the Thin Red Line to me and will be.

The special effects have potential to make this series epic but with Spielberg films I worry about the story and dialogue. We'll see. I still think BoB was overrated.

Cox recently gave me a choice of free premium subscriptions for one year. I chose HBO over Cinemax, Showtime, etc. on the sole basis of this upcoming miniseries.

"You're gonna need a bigger boat."

I'm sorry, but taken within the context of the story, dialogue doesn't get much better than that.

The only good thing to come out of the Thin Red Line was the soundtrack of island chants. The rest was crap. Well when Woody Harrelson blew his butt off it was kind of cool.

Care to elaborate? The last two episodes seemed a little "thrown together," but other than that BoB rocked.

You are the first person I've heard say that. FWIW, Bastogne was my favorite.
