Before the hurricane, Bruning's > Sidmar's > anything else. Now, I'll go with NOF&S > R&O's > Deanie's

I think Deanie's gets a bad rap. Yeah it's the "tourist" spot in Bucktown, but I have been going to Bucktown restaurants for 20 years now and Deanie's has good food. People try to act like it's Joe's crab shack or something. It's not the best, but it's not deserving of all the criticism.

I always liked them equally (Brunings, SM, R&Os).

ETA: I have lived in Bucktown for 20 years, and I've been to Deanies twice.

very good pizza

You could reasonably argue, R&Os makes one of the best pizzas in the New Orleans area. I would put it in the top 5 without a doubt, in my mind.

It's funny how that is what they were originally opened as (a pizza place) and now most folks think of that as an afterthought, if they think of it at all from there.

Its official name is "R&O's Pizzeria".

They certainly are as good as Tower Of Pizza, which people seem to love a little too much.

F&S is better than R&Os.

Grilled tuna steak is very good.

Fried catfish with crawfish stew is also very good.

To me, NOF&S is like a tourist trap that isn't located in the Quarter - it's just like Oceana, Embers Steakhouse, etc.

I'm really surprised how many people feel that NOF&S is better than R&O's. I really didn't think it would be a contest.

Me too. Hell, I always assumed the majority of their business was simply spill off from R&Os.

They do good lunch business. My dad and his buddies/business partners eat there pretty much once a week just for the rabbit, but they rarely go to R&Os (they eat out for lunch every day though, and work about 2 minutes away). One of my good friends who works by Causeway/W Esplenade said their office goes there pretty often too, but they also go to R&O's. OTOH, I pick up a poboy from R&Os probably once every two weeks (I'd do it more but I have to ration), and only go to NOF&S if I'm going out to eat with my parents and they don't feel like going far, so maybe once every 3 months.

Since we are talking Bucktown, when is the last time any of your folks have been to Live Bait? I have it two chances and the food sucked both times and the owners/managers kind of seemed like punks.

Like I said earlier, R&Os has kind of grown on me. I live in that area and liked to jog around there quite a bit. I really miss riding my bike over to Sid Mars and having a quick bite at the bar in the back.
Hell at this point, I miss all of those places out at West End, even the bad food ones. Now for that view, we are stuck with over priced shitty service producing Landrys.

Been there a few times just to grab a bite and a few beers early before going out. We go knowing the food is crap, though, we just go to chill outside on the patio for a few minutes. I fricking hate that that bridge isn't there anymore too, it makes getting from my house to the Lakefront on a bike so much more of a pain in the arse.

R&Os is not very good. I have given it 3 good attempts to rule out a 1x poor experience. They are good at reheating food-service pre-prepared foods.
