For all you Tiger fans a little help Help please:
Making the trip down for the LSU/florida game from Delaware & New Hampshire with some friends Staying at the laQuinta about a mile off campus. An LSU trip is on our Sports bucket list and we happened to pick the LSU florida game last December( best trips already completed Hoops-Duke, NC State, MD, Wake,Final 4's. for Football Georgia,Michigan, Colorado,OK,Penn State, Navy. We have 40 hours at LSU starting Friday at 2:00pm until Sunday 9:00 am.
Looking for a good dinner spot Friday night with LSU flavor. Is there a must see destination on campus. Any tips on what event etc to look for game day(Georgia has the Dawg walk etc), where to go when etc. Where is the best place to buy LSU stuff. Hoping to find Tix, what do you expect we will need to pay 1 hour before kickoff?
Appreciate any feedback to catch as much LSU flavor as possible. Thanks

90 mins before kickoff, make sure you watch the Tiger Band march down victory hill. Its a pretty cool sight.

Rent a car and drown down to New Orleans on Fri night. There is about a million more fun things to do in N.O. on a Friday night then BR. Then just drive back to BR for the game.

You'll want to be between the PMAC and Tiger Stadium. This is where we have Mike VI's habitat...though on game days he's usually not out and about in it. Might want to stop by on the Friday if you hope to see him milling around in there. There is also a brnad new gift shop adjacent to his pad. If you stick around that area though more up the hill, you'll get to see the opposing team's busses come into TS. That's always a riot. At the same place you'll see the Tigers walk down the hill and shortly after the Golden Band will come down the hill. It's really the highlight of pregame activities outside the stadium not having to do with tailgating.
Have fun...and whatever you do, do not wear blue or orange.

Going to New Orleans is a good idea. However, if you really want to spend Friday night in BR, you should consider Chimes, which is just north of the Campus on Highland. The food is not great, but its pretty good. You can buy LSU stuff right across the street.
Good luck with tickets.

THX for the Friday & game day ideas. This will help maximize the LSU experience! As opposed to being lost on campus with no game plan.

If your trip is centered around LSU, then pass on a trip to New Orleans Friday night. NOLA undoubtedly offers many things to do, but it's not the place to be if you're looking for the full LSU experience. Plus, there's a good chance you will drink too much/stay out too late Friday night and, as a result, miss out on LSU Gameday activities. Check out the Chimes and/or Walk-on's Friday night. Both will be packed with LSU (and FL) fans. Get out to campus early Saturday (mid-morning at the latest) and take a walk around campus. Be sure to check out Mike's cage (located between Tiger Stadium and the PMAC) and the Tigers marching down Victory Hill (also located b/w Tiger Stadium and the PMAC) about 90 minutes prior to kickoff. If you have enough time, visit Alex Box Stadium, our brand new baseball stadium that houses the 2009 national champions.

Big Baseball fan as well. Any word if there might be a Fall Ball Friday Night LSU intersquad game? Will definitely check out the new baseball stadium.

Friday go to The Caterie, it is on the south side of the interstate from La Quinta. good food, lot of fans there for a radio broadcast.

if LSU beats Georgia you won't find a ticket outside the stadium for less than 125 or so in my opinion.

Thanks all for the info!! A few more questions for the faithful. This is our 10th year of attending various college venues & I am sure this will be the best from what I am reading on the boards!!
Best place to check out a wide array of T Shirts etc? Want to pick up my game day shirt on Friday if possible.
What is the staple tailgate food to try out on Saturday?
Ticket prices still expected to be minimum $125?
do they really drop piss balloons from the upper deck?
Cant wait to check you all out. Flying in from Philly on Thursday to NOLA. plan on bring the flip to post the top highlights on Youtube.

Skip New Orleans. The environment will be great here. Go to the Chimes for dinner on Friday night. Serranos and The Varsity (right next door) will have bands and plenty of people there. You can stop by the Parade Grounds to view Gameday (I am assuming they are still setting up there?) or you can go to all the RV lots and party with them. Hell, it is like a damn block party over there with them.

you need to be on campus Friday afternoon to see the influx of RV's....and the beginnings of the various tailgates....
i brought some NYC natives down a couple of years back and we broke them...they couldn't believe what they were seeing.....
don't wear blue and orange as earlier said, but wear your own colors showing that you are visiting with an LSU cap......
this is going to be beyond your wildest expectations since there hasn't been a game between two teams ranked this high since 1959....and it's florida with the hated meyer and tebow....
food----gator (seriously) be willing to bet that at least one out of 5 tailgates will have some sort of alligator dish.....my home tailgate is having elk sauce piquante!!!

That and for them to see The Golden Band from Tigerland march down the hill and play Pregame. I know several New Yorkers that immediately became LSU fans upon seeing that.
How are you doing, Butch?

Get to campus around 5:00pm on Friday and go to the Chimes on Highland at the gates of campus and have a few beers/drinks. Later drive around campus and go near the stadium and see Mike the Tigers surrounding. A good rest. is Walk-On's. just south of the stadium off Nicholson Drive. Good food and plenty of LSU flavor. After maybe a night spot downtown, maybe someone who lives in BR can give you better suggestions. N.O. is an option but its about an 1 1/2 hr drive east. Have a great time I'll be there around 9:30am on Sat.
