Nicholls State. My dad played football there and my mom from a cheerleader in the late 70s.

I could have said, "raised me," which is more common in the vernacular, but my mother was also English teacher. "Reared" is the correct word.

One raises livestock and rears children.

I would lose all interest in college football. No longer having an interest in college football I would have had nothing counterproductive to fill my free time and would have studied more. Eventually curing AIDS, cancer, and the alternative energy crisis would turn me into a multi-trillionare.

Still wouldn't be worth living in a world without LSU.

I root for all Louisiana teams with the exception of ULL because most of their fans/alumni piss me off.

I don't see where you are getting at on this, not everybody has to root for the flagship school, just the school they like.

LSU isn't LSU because it is called LSU, and the core of what makes LSU what it is isn't its location. If LSU never existed in BR under its name, ULL would look very much like LSU, or La. Tech, or whatever university would have become Louisiana's flagship.

LSU being Louisiana's true flagship university is the main defining characteristic of the school. Therefore, most of us would be fans, alum, or students of whatever school was Louisiana's flagship.
