I've been to Mason's one time.
Easily the best burger I've ever had in Baton Rouge. Service was decent as well, but I went when it was fairly slow.

My co-worker was there with a customer yesterday at the time you went

Dear Team Tiger Awesome,
I want to offer you my deepest and most sincere apology for your bad experience at Mason’s grill yesterday. I will offer no excuses, as one poster has stated that this type of behavior is unacceptable. I am embarrassed and take full responsibility for ruining your dining experience, as I am the server you are discussing. I would like to assure you that this was not my usual nature and I’d like to offer, not only to serve you, but to treat you to the best burger you’ve ever eaten! I’m off on Mondays, however I’m usually there every other day of the week….just ask for Ben! (This is of course if I still have a job!) Mike and Shirley are the owners and to them I owe a huge public apology as well. I would hate for anyone to judge Mason’s based on my mistake of not being courteous and respectful to all who dine in their restaurant.

The don't go back. I don't care if it is the best burger on the planet. No need ever to suffer fools like that. Not only the poor service from the waiter, but the manager needs to learn better customer service too.
DO NOT EAT THERE. Plenty of places serve great burgers. A home grilled burger is usually better than 99% of restaurants anyway.

Ben-
I really appreciate the personal appology. I will be back to the restaurant to eat with my wife soon. With all the posts on this board praising the place, I figure there's got to be something to it.
You will have to forgive me though if I don't take you up on your offer to treat me. The goal of my post was not to gain anything, but to share my experience and vent my frustrations on the situation. I also tried very carefully to separate my comments about you from my view of the restaurant itself. I do not hold the business liable at all for the actions of one employee.
To Mike and Shirley-
I am fully impressed by the response from the Mason's crew regarding this issue, and I feel the situation has been completely resolved.
I wish you the best of luck in the future, and I will see you soon!

Why were you acting like a complete tool in the 1st place, and in your opinion why did the manager act almost as bad as you when he told her what happened?
Sounds like the front part has issues. I'll stick to the bar area whenever I go to Mason's.

I've had the Mason's burger a few times, and have never thought to myself that this was the best burger in town while eating it.
I'm just going to have to have my own personal South Baton Rouge burger tasting contest soon, between George's, Mason's, Dempsey's,,,, who else?
Plus I can stand to gain a few lbs, so I'll get cheese fries with the burger, and will rate them too.

I feel the same way. I worked right around the corner from them for about 5 years, and was never impressed with anything on the menu as I have tried it all. My boss loved the place, so he would treat. That is the only reason I continued to eat there.

Servers can find jobs anywhere and often times have no loyalty to the restaurant. They get paid only half of minimum wage and only make their money from tips. I would place 10% of the blame on the server in this instance. The manager who makes a salary and who is supposed to be looking out for the brand is at fault! I am a manager and know that sometimes a server has a bad day...it is what it is. If the server is good then he stays, if he/she was on the way out; he/she gets the boot. Just how it is. The "manager" gets paid for solving problems...this was a problem...and he didn't solve it! I would suggest that this manager read a book: "setting the table" by Danny Meyer. Ben- suggest this to him/her. If I were the owner...Ben would stay and the manger in question would be let go immediately! Is this the kind of person you want protecting your brand?

I'd like to see a response from the owners or manager in question of Mason's grill.

Tramonte's Cheeseburger.....
I love Tramonte's but their burger isn't one of their stronger menu items imo. Taste like it's got a lot of filler in it.
Now the rib eye poboy rocks. Their roast beef, cajun sausage, fried seafood and plate lunches are also worth a trip.
