My dad and I are going to Omaha for the first time, and we need to know which restaurants to go to. He works for Bruce Foods out of New Iberia and we are going to showcase their products to another part of the country. If you guys could help me by telling me about some good restaurants, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I have heard that Bailey's Barley Corn restaurant in Omaha is really good. It has lots of LSU decor as I understand. www.barrettsomaha.com. Hope this helps....

I think it is Barrett's Barleycorn. The food was okay, not great. It is defiantly something to check out just because of the LSU support in a bar and grill so far away. I didn't do too much eating because I was on a liquid diet. There is all kind of stuff in Old Market though. Just stay close to there and there will be plenty to eat and do.

La Casa--best pizza around. They talk about their steaks being so good there, but I just don't get it. Steaks in the south are so much better to me. I was told that Johnny's is a great steak but I was sadly disappointed.

Here's a link to a great place. Food is excellent. The beer is great. Make sure you go to the down town location. The atmosphere is great.

Upstream Brewing Company

Barret's Barley Corn is notoriuos as an LSU bar but don't go for the food - it's just pub grub.

Also a great sports bar that loves LSU fans next door to the Qwest Center and the "new Blatt". It's called The Mattress Factory. Ice cold beer and a good menu. They were giving out free peanuts at the games last year, so we figured we'd return the favor by giving them some business. Here's the link: LINK /

We went to Omaha in 2000. I know that was awhile ago, but we were there ten days and found NO good food. The best we had was at a Chili's one night. They have no clue! Great people, though. And what an event! Just bring your coffee and your Tony's.

I went in 2000 and found Austin's in the Old Market. Excellent!

ETA: For those who haven't been before, Omaha Steaks is a retail outlet, NOT a restaurant. Just sayin'.

Yeah we're going no matter what. As for the guy that mentioned tony's...that's one of their big competitors, so we'll just bring our cajun shake. Thanks for all the responses, keep 'em coming
