Believe me, I wish I had a job that allowed me to do that, but I don't.

Hi, Jeff. Don't let Josh get to you, dude. He is a bit of an a-hole.

What the other posters mentioned (including Jeff) is correct, however. LSU always opts to play the early game, primarily because it gives them more rest between games 1 and 2. They've been doing this for as long as I can remember; Skip always did this. The weather factor is notable, too. If there's a weather delay, you really don't want to be in that late game.

As for attendance, the stadium will be full Friday afternoon for game 1. Most folks mark their calendars early on the assumption that LSU will be hosting the regionl and that they will play the early game. You do what you have to do to get there. We have a full tailgate set up. It's a challenge work-wise (I will be taking a conference call in my vehicle in the parking lot about an hour prior to the game). I actually went straight from being released from the hospital to the Box for the '95 Regional!

The actual versus paid attendance will be much higher for the Baylor - Minn game at night. The LSU - Southern game attendance may be slightly lower (less SROs) by having it Friday afternoon, but it will still be packed.

WTF? You can call me an a-hole if you want, but how is what you said different from what you said?

I wasn't a dickhead when I said it. I never said that you were wrong, but you take this know it all, condescending attitude with every newbie that comes on here. It's possible to be informative AND polite at the same time, Josh.

I guess because I recently registered and I don't have 12,870 posts (cool guy ) I'm considered a "newbie", but I've actually been reading the website for a few years. And I didn't really make any outlandish comments. I was just questioning the reasoning behind the decision.

You can unload on Bama fans, too, just lighten up a little on the other folks.

Ok, now I get it. Everyone is just supposed to agree with Josh. Sorry, I'm a "newbie". It takes me a little longer to understand how things work around here.

You asked why LSU was playing when they are, I gave you the reasons that are widely known by the fanbase to be the reason, Skip has explained it many times, yet you don't buy it, now how is that my opinion?

Your opinion is that you agree with it. I don't.

well then you are wrong, LSU has come out and given the reason, and I repeated it, if you don't agree with their reason, then that's all I can say

I've got to defend Josh here. I realize that Josh can be a little over the top sometimes. But I can also tell that he knows what he's talking about on a lot of stuff. In this situation, Jeff asked a question and Josh answered it. The only sarcasm in his answer I bolded. And if that offends you, then you need to thicken your skin a little, because I've seen it much worse. Things didn't escalate until you kept on. Josh wasn't giving you his opinion, he was giving you Skip Bertman's answer.

If the host team gets to decide when they want to play game one, why was LSU the only team to pick the early game? You would think they would have a much larger crowd and make more money if LSU played the later game. How many people are going to get off of work and go watch Minn. play Baylor? Someone help me understand...

First year following? LSU does this every year. LSU does this for 2 reasons. 1st, in case they lose the 1st game, they have more time in between games, 2nd, they make more money this way. They will pack the seats regardless of what time the LSU game is, people are more likely to go see the other game if its in primetime as opposed to 1pm on a Friday. More money for LSU.

IMO, the sarcastic question is legitimate, anyone who has followed the team for a few years should know that answer.

Don't the rules change from time to time. Like some one said in the SEC tourney switching the team in the semi brackets has not always been the way it's been done.

the flipping brackets thing changed last year, i give people a pass on that, but the time we play regionals hasn't changed in like 9 years

Josh, I called you on the first post because, whether the rules change or not, there's no need to be rude to someone for asking a question. Not everyone follows LSU baseball as closely as we do; that doesn't mean that they can't enjoy the team's success. Now, STUPID people, like the idiots who think that you can start Coleman every game or who ask how many "points" LSU will score on Friday...yeah, they're asking for it.

Jeff, don't rock the boat, man. Several people answered the question correctly. If you've been reading for awhile, as you said, then you know that if you start firing back, things will just escalate. Josh may have been condescending, but he was accurate. Let it go.

FWIW, I'm fired up about this weekend!!! Hope all of you are able to duck out of work early and get out to the Box. If not, there's always Saturday!
