Are all the regionals set up the same way in regard to game time scheduling and ticket prices? Just wondering.

Start times are decided by the host team, but must be approved by the NCAA. The host team also gets to decide if they want to play during the day or at night on day one.

Host schools also decide ticket prices, but prices are subjected to a minimum set by the NCAA.

Thanks. I'm likely to be in Houston this weekend and thought I might take in a couple of games. Not sure how much the one day passes are but the weekend pass is $55. Is their ballpark Reckling Park on campus?

If the host team gets to decide when they want to play game one, why was LSU the only team to pick the early game? You would think they would have a much larger crowd and make more money if LSU played the later game. How many people are going to get off of work and go watch Minn. play Baylor? Someone help me understand...

First year following? LSU does this every year. LSU does this for 2 reasons. 1st, in case they lose the 1st game, they have more time in between games, 2nd, they make more money this way. They will pack the seats regardless of what time the LSU game is, people are more likely to go see the other game if its in primetime as opposed to 1pm on a Friday. More money for LSU.

It's not my first time following, but it is the first time that I noticed that EVERY host team elected to play the later game, except LSU.

It's not about more time between games because every weekend during the season they play a 7:00 game on Fri and a 1:00-3:00 game on Sat. So that doesn't make sense. And although there will be a lot of people there, there would be even more people there if the game was at night.

I'm just pissed because I could have gone if it was the late game, but now I'll be stuck at my desk listening to it.

LSU would have trouble getting fans to 1pm games on fridays during the regular season, and i'm sure the opponents dont wanna have to miss more school for that.

And how can LSU get more people in there for the nightcap if it will already be sold out and full for the 1pm game? Your logic is flawed.

No one said anything about getting fans to 1:00 games on Fri. during the year. You said that one of the reasons was that the team would need more time between games, IF they lost. I was saying that they are used to playing late on Fri. and 1:00-3:00 on Sat. Your logic is flawed buddy. If they played at 7 on Fri and they lose, they will have the same amount of time as they usually do.

Also, have you ever checked the paid attendence compared to the actual attendence? I know there will be a lot of people at the LSU game regarless of the time, but it wont be full. If was at night, it would be standing room only.

I had a ticket, but I can't go because of work. I'm sure other people are in the same boat as I am.

which is the real reason lsu playing at 1 makes no sense to you, but its not about what's more convenient for the fans, but instead, the team

Yeah, but they usually wouldn't be facing a season ending situation. A little more is at stake, in my opinion. Anyway, it amazes me that fans still don't get this. Even if you disagree with the logic, it's been happening since Bertman was the coach.

Early game would help if there are any rain delays.

Eventhough our opinions mean nothing to the people who decide these things, I sill disagree with it. I could argue about why I disagree all day, and regardless of when they play I'll be there, or at least watching or listening, but it's not important when they play. All that matters is HOW they play, and we all know that LSU will kick the crap out of Southern on Fri and sweep through the regional. That's all that really matters.

As soon as it was apparent that LSU was hosting a regional (i.e. about two weeks ago...) I took off work.
