I've spoken to him, while he didn't straight up bad mouth LSU, you could tell there is still some resentment left in his heart towards LSU.

Smoke Laval is a good coach. He was almost in a "no win" situation following a legend like Bertman. And, if Larry Templeton from State and the NCAA selection committee doesn't put State in the NCAA tourney over LSU that year, he might still be at LSU.
