For those who care, I'm at the SEC Tourney right now and Smoke Laval is sitting in the same section as me. I assume he's scouting. He's with two other guys that I assume to be scouts.

Let me get some of the cliches out of the way:

-He ran the greatest program into the ground

-he couldn't get his best recruits to campus

-SAMMY'S CHEESE FRIES

Is he occasionally taking a sip out of a flask?

No flask...that I can see. And surprisingly he is wearing a white polo. I'm interested to see if he sticks around for the LSU game.

If there's a future baseball camp kickback to be had from doing so, you can bet on it.

I thought he would be sighted at Benny's Car Wash on Airline Hwy. He is probably better at washing cars than he is at coaching

He's the Scouting Advisor for the Jays, not a bad gig.

Saw him at Sam's Club at 7:30 AM one day buying candy for his baseball camp. He looked more like a homeless guy (old t-shirt, flip-flops) than an LSU coach. No other coaches go out in public looking that shabby.

I know not many people were sad when he was let go but does anyone know if he still "supports" LSU baseball? By supports I mean, does he show up at games, regionals, etc? I've never seen him in the stands & I know he works for the Bluejays organization but I was just wondering if he still has a soft spot-like the one in his head-for LSU baseball. He did help build those championship teams w/ Bertman, I would think he'd have some "leftover" feelings to the program he spent so much time at.

He also turned us in for the whole apartment scandal because he was pissed at LSU for letting him go.

<---- wasn't sad at all when he left. i thought he would've kept the program going since he had been here under skip forever.

From what I hear, Mr. Laval and the University have permanently parted ways by mutual agreement. He certainly wasn't part of any of the festivities closing the old Box or opening the new. This also, from what I understand, was by mutual agreement.

Agreed. I thought he was the ONLY logical choice. Apparently Skip was a VERY VERY VERY good baseball coach.
