I found this transcript from Dale Brown's post game press conference following LSU's 96-76 loss to Kentucky in 1978. This was in Lexington, and Dale was none to happy after the game.

Apparently Dale went off on a tangent calling Kentucky the dirtiest team he had ever seen. After his tangent, he opened it up for questions, and one of the first ones asked was by a Kentucky reporter:

Q: I saw one of your players put an elbow to Mike Phillips early in the game. Are you saying your team is simon pure?

DB: Have you ever masturbated in your life?

Q: What has that to do with basketball?

DB: I’m asking you a question. No, I’m asking you a question. Have you ever masturbated?

Q: What has that got to do with basketball?

DB: You don’t want to tell me do you? Ah, it’s (the question) no dumber than yours. I respond to tell you that I just told you five minutes ago that if anybody has made a lot of mistakes….I’ve probably made more mistakes than any of you guys. We do not teach that aspect in any way. I don’t know the particular thing but you sound tremendously pro-Blue on that and may be that’s your job. May be your boss is a Kentucky graduate from the journalism school and that’s what you got to do.

Yeah, he's an idiot.

Search for incidents w/ State Troopers.

Ron Abernathy also had some colorful tales in recruiting John williams. BTW, John Williams had a 7 series BMW in red while at LSU.

Then it's gets really good w/ Tito Horford.

Good for Dale. Follow up a reporter's stupid question with one of his own.

There were many embarassing incidents w/ Dale Brown at LSU. Those incidents eventually led to his dismissal. He also, continually caused trouble w/ the NCAA. Some people have the impression that Dale was great for LSU. I agree he elevated the Basketball program, but he caused alot of embarassment also.

Skip Bertman and his 5 NC's have something to say about that. Well to be totally correct 4 were in the 20th century.

I don't know of any of the rest of us who are perfect. Hey, he definitely did some eccentric things, but he never got to the level Bobby Knight. He did a lot for basketball and kept it exciting until his last few years - which were admittedly not good, including butting heads with the NCAA. It has been my experience that many times people are the last ones to realize when it is time to go. In all candor, his career should be judged on his overall body of work. He is still a very good man in my book.

Huey P Long did a ton for LSU...like building Tiger Stadium when noone wanted it built. Moving the campus to its current locale. etc.

Just throwing that out there.

LOL, I've never seen this but I totally believe it based on what I remember of Dale Brown in interviews. He was very excitable. I remember him throwing around the term "Gustapo Bastards" as well when describing a certain Dept. of the the NCAA maybe?

Dude get a clue. In 1978 Kentucky was the bullies of the SEC they had the other schools, referees and the SEC office totally intimidated they did whatever they wanted and no one stood up to them until Dale Brown began doing it when he got to LSU. I saw those teams play and can tell you Mike Phillips was without a doubt the dirtiest player to ever play in the SEC and Rick Robey despite his New Orleans catholic school league background was not far behind. Dale challenged them and wouldnt stand back and keep his mouth shut with their arrogant crap he called them on it. That is why they hated him so much. He also ended up as the coach who beat Kentucky more than any other coach in history and beat them by the biggest margin at Kentucky ever. One of my best memories was when early in Dale's tenure LSU was getting screwed at Kentucky and the officials were letting Kentucky get away with everything. Finally Dale had enough and walked out on the court and threw his jacket on the Kentucky map at center court. Also in the 2nd LSU-KY game in 78 in Baton Rouge LSU beat the eventual national champion in OT with all 5 starters fouled out. Dale made LSU basketball!!!!!! Give him the credit he deserves. He stood up to those arrogant pricks and LSU became a force from the late 70's through the early 90's thanks to Dale.!
