I really loved the strawberry, anyone try the blueberry yet? Also, what is your favorite filling?

I like chocolate and banana... have never seen blueberry. Saw blackberry once a while back. Some flavors are very difficult to locate...

I rank these just under Bud's Broiler on my "things overrated by everyone from NOLA" list

Hubigs pies are the Bobby Hebert of the snack world.

You're treading on very thin ice.

what this quote, and similar quotes that i see often on this board, often ignore is the nostalgia affect. we aren't always basing our love of some food item or restaurant purely on some objective criteria. we are also basing our evaluation heavily on the memories associated with that experience.

i have great memories as a kid of my father bringing home Hubig's pies as a little treat for my sisters and i. those memories clearly and rightfully go into the evaluation.

Consequently: although Hubig's pies may not be objectively better than other similar pies/pastries, they certainly are subjectively better for some of us when you include the intangibles like the memories associated with the experience.

and this logic also applies to restaurants and other food items that some people may categorize as "overrated" but are not necessarily overrated for those of us that grew up eating there and have many fond memories of the experience. it doesn't mean something is overrated; it just means you don't see what we see.

my favorite is the one i don't have to eat.

i guess there is nostalgia. My memories of Hubig's pies consist of taking a a bite of that overly sweet pudding filled flaky shite and throwing it away. ahhh, the memories. Hubig's pies are even worse than Pralines or king cakes.

So you were a kid (and now perhaps an adult) that hated many things that were overly sweet. Its a good thing you gave your opinion on how shitty a sweetened product is.

I'm not a big fan of red wine, but I think I will talk about how crappy local reds are, since I grew up around them.

There is nothing like a strawberry hudbig early in the morning when you are about to hit the water for some specs and reds or whatever fish suits your taste!

Loved them when younger, now they just taste like a bucket of flavored HFCS.
