Offer Hurly 13 million a year and HE GONE. When a team like UK gets in dire straights, start getting mocked, losing players they may just back up the Brinks Truck.

Just a hypo, but Kelvin Sampson "only" makes 4.6 at Houston (that's still I think a top 10 salary).
Kentucky could double that.
Sampson wants his son to be named head coach in waiting after he steps down. Its a package deal and why many have skipped sampson at Houston.

There was little doubt as is, but this is final: sources just told @CBSSports there is a “0 percent chance” Dan Hurley will leave UConn for Kentucky. It’s not happening.
Hurley staying in Storrs, with a deserved big pay bump coming for him + his staff.
UK’s search continues.

Guessing it's Donovan next

Kentucky is not what they thought they were

Sources: BYU's Mark Pope is a candidate for the head coaching vacancy at Kentucky.
Pope was a member of the 1996 national title team in Lexington.

Cal underachieved but going from him to a coach with 0 tourney wins. On the plus side, they'll save on salary and can spend the extra on recruits and transfers.

Has to be the backup plan if Donovan says no, but if they get to him LOL

Isn’t he getting a new arena at Baylor also? Or did he just get it?

Already got. One of the fallout points with Mulkey.

She didn’t like the placement of the arena. She wanted her name on the court. She also got mad they didn’t drop confetti after one of her games (not sarcasm).
She didn’t jive with the new AD and at the time basketball and football were rolling (realize that was 3 years ago). She didn’t like not being big person on campus so she left town (even though her grand kids live in central Texas). It was an odd exit for sure.

Take on Donovan. I think UK talks to his rep. If he says they are interested, if it seems enough interest, wait.
Donovan hasn't coached college in NIL. Of of the requirements for Cal was he had to let the athletics dept rum his NIL. I suspect Donovan would welcome the help navigating it.
If that happens and we wait, it's 1989 all over again. He will likely have Sheppard and Perry, and maybe one or two others and has to hit the portal hard. When does it end?
I could see us having a so so season this next year, then full on next year. And remember Donovan was here in 1989 so he knows how to do it.
