Per Jon Rothstein

Seems like they will keep trying for Hurley or wait on Donovan

Def thought he would take that job.

They have to go after Nate Oats now, right?

Absolutely nobody wants to have to deal with Kentucky even for $10M a year.

A former championship coach who loves Italian food and the state of Kentucky is waiting in Queens for the call

Why would Hurley leave the best program of the last 25 years?

Ah. I think UK let Cal go thinking they were going to upgrade big time, but they are already on to Plan C.

I don't see Hurley taking that job. UConn is a better job winning wise.

Would Donovan really leave the NBA if his job is secure? He's been out of college awhile, and its changed drastically in that time.

Will Wade, come on down!

Scott drew is able to live a somewhat regular life in a midsized Waco area. He has two kids in high school and one at Baylor. Maybe moving to Kentucky with higher expectations and a rabid fan base just wasn’t worth it personally.

I mean I think it’s easier to recruit and win at Kentucky, but that isn’t everything in life.

Just a hypo, but Kelvin Sampson "only" makes 4.6 at Houston (that's still I think a top 10 salary).

Kentucky could double that.

Kelvin Sampson being 68 years old is tough.

Scott Drew is 53.
Billy Donovan is 58.
Dan Hurley is 51.
Heck, Rick Pitino is only 3 years older than Kelvin Sampson.

I didn’t expect this coaching search to be a bigger goatfrick for Kentucky than it was for Louisville.

Oats has already signed his extension with Bama. I believe UK would owe Bama nearly $20MM to hire him away as well. I seriously doubt Oats leaves Bama right now.

Very few NBA gigs are safe, but as you said, Donovan was done with the college game when it was much easier than it is now. He's already made a ton of money and he's pushing 60.

His deal is up with the Bulls after this season, so the speculation is that the org is going to go in another direction. He's in year 4, the team is currently the 9 seed, and haven't been playing well down the stretch.

I doubt he would stay out of coaching with a massive contract from Kentucky hanging over his head.

Didn't realize his contract was up.

Well...that makes sense. One last pay day and retire.
