The knife was pulled after the woman touched his shoulder at about 1:43, the boys hadn’t touched him yet. Then the camera pans away and they’re on the ground. Obviously, it would have been good to see what exactly happened there.

I'm getting a kick out of the guys apparently thinking the dude had to keep the knife in his pocket until after the trash started kicking his arse.

Jesus. I saw the video on Youtube. It showed the kids surrounding him and heckling him while he just looked sort of dazed and cornered. Then he snapped and it was like a horror movie. I feel for the kids but they cornered the wrong guy. The way the one guy just started yelling “this isn’t real! This isn’t real!” They took it too far and should have left him alone.

Same here. I don’t see what the self defense advocates are seeing. I see a guy get pissed because teenagers are razzing him. He confronts them by pushing them out the tubes. They keep razzing him but are telling him to leave. Another group sees commotion proceeds to tell him to leave. He hits the girl, guys go at him knock him down but don’t keep hitting. He gets up and starts stabbing anyone in arms reach.
At any point before it got physical he could’ve left.

Getting attacked by a group and pushed under water would make anyone crazy eyed. The water more than anything, a lot have a fear of drowning and the stabbing response was 100% justified

The way they were all just yelling and sticking their phones in his face and crowding him, though, and you could tell he was either drunk or a few cards short of a full deck.

As I said earlier today, this video needs to serve as a lesson to the young bucks out there. Don’t frick with old men. Odds are good it won’t end well for you.

Both Carlson brothers are punching Miu. Then their buddy Martin starts attacking.
AJ Martin is being the aggressor when he got gutted.
Mui was surrounded by approximately 15 people. It is very reasonable to believe he was in fear of great bodily harm.
ETA - he was surrounded by a total of 13 people. At least 4 were attacking him.

He also lied his arse off to the cops about what happened from what I was reading earlier. He tossed the knife in some bushes off the bank, when the police found him he acted like he had no idea anyone got stabbed and then later said he took the knife from one of the boys (before he knew there was video). Not great if you’re looking for self defense…

the group first floated into him. you most likely haven't seen the entire video.
again, the boys were just being dickheads. until the Carlson Klan came rushing up, there was no physical contact. if not for them injecting themselves into ruckus, everyone goes home.
