I don't think Mulkey hates the flag and I personally suspect she doesn't like the kneeling stuff at all. That is why I believe she is doing the compromise where she keeps her team in the locker room a la Mike Tomlin, and she feigns ignorance or talks about her "routine" when asked about it. I posted a link of the Baylor team being present for the 2019 national championship anthem. This was laughed at but I'm not really sure why because it shows her "routine" previously didn't preclude her team from being on the court for it.

As for the first amendment thing, I'm not totally sure it applies in this circumstance. And I'm not even sure it's absolute in this area either - can a player literally say whatever he or she wants and not have repercussions including having his or her scholarship pulled?

Does anyone know if Iowa came out for the anthem in their prior tournament games or did they come out just this one time when ESPN coincidentally decided to show the anthem?

Who is pulling Landry’s strings? What has he been promised to attack CKM and LSU?

He knows better. His timing effectively diminished the criticism for LAT and WAPO.

CKM had effectively counterattacked and was on the moral high ground. Landry then attacks and shifts the narrative.

Is this going to turn out being another Georgia type governor? Does Louisiana have a wolf in sheep’s clothing?

Need to collect just over 600,000 signatures to require a recall election.

UConn/USC were not out for the very next game but ESPN never talked about that. Iowa football team was not out for the anthem when they played Michigan in the Big10 Championship, Army/Navy were not out for the anthem this year.

Rather than trying to tackle real issues Landry is only about propping up "his" people. Claims Louisiana needs budget cuts then gives his friends a raise and a car. Introduces a bill that says the taxpayers will pay for private schools for individuals, does nothing with insurance. He is going to be worse than Edwards and I voted for him.

So, not one of all you MF who responded to this thread served in the military or believe the team should be out there for the National Anthem? I don't think he should have penned this letter this quick, however, I agree with him. Put your hands on your frigging chest for a minute and respect the flag and the people who died for you players, coaches, etc. I see all the fans respecting the flag and the players should too!!

Wow. Do you need a tissue? You are a pathetic example of what is wrong with our military. You don't deserve special treatment because you volunteered for service. That's not how this works. While it is appreciated, you don't have to be sucked off 24/7 for making that choice, especially when nearly every military operation of last 5 decades had nothing to do with making Americans safer and "protecting our freedoms".

Forcing anyone to be a fluffer for your ego is just pathetic.

Oh and if it makes you feel better... Thank you for your service.

I also heard from someone with first hand knowledge in the capital that he torpedo’d the pogie boat ban and forced the CCA to accept the 1/2 mile buffer, or face getting nothing. This was after a buffer twice that size was approved all the way to the very end.

Being upset about college basketball players not being present for the national anthem is such a fricking low IQ take

This guy wants to be the Dictator of Louisiana. He wants to micromanage every issue in the state, from local education to higher education, to insurance, to retirement programs, etc. He will create a great deal of turmoil in Louisiana the next 4 years!

We had abysmal turnout and he won with the smallest of amounts of votes in like 4 decades. IMO, Landry was the worst of the four Republican candidates but he had the name recognition. Unfortunate but it won't be the last one we elect in this fashion.

ok.

let's pretend for 30 seconds that this made even half a lick of sense.

why penalize the players if it's the coach that sets the routine?

coach calls pregame meeting. no player is skipping that meeting no matter what's happening on the field/court at the time.

so you yank the scholly of every player for something the coach did?
