Looking to try out the Pelican Club for the first time this month for their holiday tasting menu... But while I had heard almost exclusively good things previously, when I mention the place lately I have heard quite a few negative experiences. (Well maybe not negative so much as a lot of "I wasn't that impressed.")

I want to take the whole family somewhere new and special for the Holidays, so how about some thoughts on the restaurant from the Food board from those who have been there? Pelican Club as one of the better restaurants in the city, what say you?

I would say it would be in the 10 to 15 range.

I have been twice, but it has been several years since my last visit. Outstanding both times I went.
I had never heard anything negative about the place until I saw the few reports on here. Recently read a few very good reports on it from another site that I visit.

Give it a try for the Revillion menu.

It's top 10 IMO...good place and a real sleeper in New Orleans.

I heard the revillion menu is good...I think I will be going there Saturday for it actually. If you choose to order off the regular menu, the scallop stuffed artichoke is one of the best dishes in the city. The seafood martini is great as well and on the tasting menu.

Michalopolis' gallery is next door and is a nice pre-dinner stroll.

Went not long ago for the revillion menu, and thought food was great. had turtle soup, baked oysters, and filet.

service was a little on slow side, but not to a fault.

would highly recommend it, probably the best revillion menu out there in terms of value + selection.

i second the seafood martini; one person in my group order this and said it was very good. another in our group order the Louisiana Cioppino and was very pleased. Comes out in a small pot...very nice presentation. When they pulled the cover off, I almost wished I had order it but my gulf fish with lump crab meat was very good as well, especially the jalapeno hollandaise.
