re: LA Times “reporter” had to rewrite his hit piece on LSU and CKM

It's going to be interesting to see where the rest of the media goes over the next day or two. Even though they didn't go as far as the LA Times with their labeling, they'd definitely pushed the "LSU Women are the villains of the sport" narrative and played up the "LSU vs the world" (because in the media's minds, LSU, like their coach, is just so unlikeable) mentality. They even mentioned the "LSU vs everyone" a couple of times in studio during the game yesterday. But now that the LA Times went way too far, people are scrambling to distance themselves from what is so blatantly sexist and defamatory of young women athletes. Will they back completely off or will they cling to their desire to cast LSU in the role of the trash-talking thugs (while ignoring the trash talk and unsportsmanlike behavior of the stars of other teams)?

Yup. LA Times put the vast majority on “LSU’s side” here. Just read the twitter comments… it’s pretty unanimously being criticized.
It was kinda split before the LA times piece
Regardless, Kim Mulkey has a unique ability to put her program in the national spotlight and I think it’s great for LSU and women’s basketball, because most people - probably myself included - wouldn’t really care. She has a passion for her profession and commands attention and respect.
In a couple weeks no one will care about all this. Because none of it really matters in the grand scheme, there’s no “scandal” here or really anything that’s incredibly newsworthy.. But for now, LSU women’s basketball and Kim Mulkey are the center of attention, and I love it.
