Wait. Do people actually visualize images in their mind? If so, I have no idea what’s that like.

Can you picture memories in your mind?

Not visually in the literal sense, no.

My mind can recount the image, but like actually seeing the image, no. The OP doesn't even make sense to me saying he can't see a red star but can see the idea of a red star. Who tf can actually and literally see a red star "in their mind?"

Like, close my eyes and actually see them? No. But I can remember extreme levels of detail.

When I was 10, we were on a family vacation in Florida. We were playing truth or dare by the pool one night and my step brother had to do some stupid dance on the diving board while singing a song. A guy walked through while my brother was doing this, walked up to him and punched him in the face. He then walked up to our table, stared at us without saying anything and walked away.

He has very light, blond curly hair and eyes the palest shade of blue I’ve ever seen. I remember exactly what he looked like, what he was wearing and can *almost* close my eyes and see his eyes bc the memory is so vivid in my mind. But I can’t actually see them. I could provide enough detail for a sketch artist to do a detailed drawing though after all these years.
