I don't know if it has been mentioned in this thread, but it is now being reported that it wasn't a pit bull. It has been corrected that the dog was an "olde english bulldog".

Pit bulls are working dogs that DO have a purpose. That purpose is to catch violent animals like boars... They're catch dogs, not pets. It's in their DNA to latch on to a neck.
The overwhelming majority of people that own them don't need them.
It's like the baw that commutes to work in a 3/4 ton truck that doesn't even own a trailer. Except the truck won't kill your kid.

My pitbull story:
A few years ago I walked outside to check my mail at night. As I got to my mailbox I looked over and there was a pitbull standing under a street light looking all menacing. He was probably 30 yards away.
I got my mail and slowly began walking away because he was staring me down. About that time he took off in a sprint running right for me. I about shite myself because I knew I couldn't outrun him (they are fast as frick). So I just stood still and braced for impact. When he gets about 5 yards from me, he jumps at me. I closed my eyes waiting to get eaten. He then jumped into my arms. Yes, he just wanted me to pet him. I pet him for a few seconds then went inside.
Next day I walk outside and he is on my porch waiting for me to come out. I gave him a little food and he was happy. Next day he was waiting on me again. At this point I was certain someone had dumped him, so I loaded him up and took him to the pound. I didn't want him associated with me in case he was on the hunt for kids to bite.

I was kinda hoping he would so I could test my accuracy with my pistol under duress. I think 11 hollow point .380’s would have done the job.

Why are we talking about pits? The dog in question was an English bulldog. 5 pages of nonsense has been spewed about pits. And they didn't even bite anyone in hartselle. Downvote me all you want. I've had pits. Call me trashy whatever. But mine was a rescue. His name was Brody. Only problem I had out of him was chewing on everything. He was a good boy. He passed away just last year.

I love the “it’s the owner” defense of these trash animals.
Ok, so let’s blame the owners.
Now, explain how there are millions of Labradors out there, and the bite percentages aren’t the same?
Are we saying that owners of pit bulls are more likely to be shitty humans?
Or that pits are more likely to be shitty dogs?
(It’s probably both, honestly)

Big PitBull always does this, they act like it was an "unidentified mix" or some other breed. If it wasn't a pit bull it wouldn't have been reported as such from the beginning.

“Olde English Bulldog”
They’re all one and the same. “Bully breeds” need to be eradicated
