Looking for a moderately priced used golf cart for nothing more than driving around the neighborhood to visit friends. Have a garage which would accommodate it, since mine is too damn small for cars.

Don’t want some tricked out lifted thing.

I only play 2-3 rounds of golf a year and the local club requires you to rent theirs, so not using for actual golf.

Thanks.

Finding a used cart at the price you want is not hard. In fact sometimes people are just trying to get it out of their garage because buying new batteries is more expensive then the value of the cart.

Beware of anything used with old (original) batteries. Those things cost a bunch to replace. I’d probably say to try one of the local cart dealers and see if they have anything used in good shape. Maybe give you a little warranty. There’s a place on Florida Blvd near Juban that does a lot of business. We’ve bought a couple new from them, but I think they sell used as well.

I have this for sale but it's not cheap. They're in demand like a 70s Bronco. $6500 Firm.

ETA: no lowballs. I know what I've got.

Look for a Club Car with preferably no more than 2yr old Trojan batteries. Club Cars have an aluminum frame and composite battery tray so if you ever have a leaking battery or some type of spill when topping them off, nothing will rust or get ate up with acid.

Most people keep records of when the last batteries were bought so you can confirm there. If the batteries are 3 or 4 years old you can use that in your negotiations to lower the selling price. You can get a 6 pack of 8v Trojans for ~$1500.

Define what you think is "moderately" priced??? They are outrageous these days.

Get a gas golf cart, not a battery operated one. Also, get a Club Car, the frame is aluminum.

Get one with a dump bed. You will want it for yard work, carrying ice chests, BBQ, etc.

Thank me later.

I bought a used Yamaha gas model in 2006(2003) model. It's been trouble free and only had to replace one small car size battery for $70. Comparatively my friends with electric have gone through many complete sets of batteries. There are places that sell golf club lease returns cheaper than the typical store.

I think in your case it a waste of good money. I lived in a golf community and when I learned they were still charging me a cart fee when I was supplying the cart I sold the damn thing

If you’re going battery get a 48v. I have an older 36v and it’s slower than I’d like it to be, but it’s perfect for the neighborhood cruising.

Had i bought a 48v I could take it to our camp in grand isle. I just don’t think mine would cut it on the beach, but I bought new batteries so I may try it out.

I didn’t want gas bc they’re noisier, but I hate relying on batteries.

I have an auto policy on one bc I cruise the neighborhood as well. I didn’t really need liability but I wanted comp and UM for injuries if someone runs me over in a car.

Why not get something like a Kawasaki Mule? You can do something productive with it.

I live near a beach and have a Club Car. We drive the shite out of it and its gets abused. It is lifted as you wouldn't want one on the beach that is not. This one is currently 5 years old and has no major issues. My last Club Car lasted 8 years before rust got to it but we kept it outside under a carport. We keep our current one in a garage and rinse it every beach trip. EZ Go and other models seem to have issues a lot sooner.

I would find a used one that needs or has older batteries knowing I would be replacing the batteries with Lithium. They charge faster, are a lot lighter, hold a charge a lot longer (decreased weight adds to that run time), and will last a lot longer. They are more expensive and require a different charger. I just priced some and the entire package was ~$1500 installed and was going to drop my cart weight 230 lbs.

Whatever you do, do not buy new and do not buy one that was used in a coastal environment. The markup for new is ridiculous and there are a ton of used available. You can do it for $4000-$6000 all in including the battery swap.
