Bruh, Beloso was born and bred to be a lead off hitter. What’s wrong with you?

Jay won a title with a majority of mainieri players, fact
What’s your point? I was just saying I very much disagreed with Paul’s decision with a few starters.

I guess you’re making my point for me that Jay starts the right guys and I don’t worry about that anymore. Thanks baw

Yes, and Guidry.

I dont remember there being much of a melt about not pitching skenes once we got a little lead in game 3

Nah I don’t remember one at all either. We were all pumped that Skenes was available as needed and you had a few other romantics wanting him to get a curtain call but we just won a national championship. No one was melting that day.

I much prefer late game subs I don’t agree with than starters that Mainieri used to put out there. Not going to name names, but you know some of the players I’m talking about

Starting 3rd Baseman Will Hellmers was certainly a decision.

Jay never said anything about this in post game press conferences.

i know instead he spoke about how good 40 loss Tulane was.

in other words "coach speak"

he also spoke about how important it was to not use the bullpen on Friday.
now why would not using the bullpen be such an important issue against Tulane?
why would you have such concerns about Skenes going deep and saving the bullpen the next night?

then what do you know? the next day you only get 3 innings from the starter thanks to a delay. and having a fully rested pen became quite crucial (Hurd pitching out of his mind made the pen a non-factor, but you couldn't bank on that).

PM didn’t recruit any of them. Fact.

Weird that Dylan Crews’ first call when he pulled his name from the draft was to a guy that didn’t recruit him…

Because everyone else important to him was actually there.

We have 24 years of evidence, with about 17 of those being LSU as a 1 seed and saving their ace to show how you can handle the 4 team regionals. LSU has never lost a game 1 of the regional as a 1 seed when not starting our ace.

Me saying I disagree with that one decision doesn’t mean I don’t think he coached masterfully from game 2 of the regionals through the CWS championship.

Jay knew something almost none of us did. He knew he had a deep excellent bullpen. After watching games all season, most of us thought otherwise. So Jay’s decisions on Skenes seemed wrong from our perspective, which suggested that if LSU wasted Skenes we were dead. Jay knew otherwise. He knew he could count on Hurd, Ack, Herring and more.

And most of those years we did not win a national championship, but last year we did.

The melt over Floyd's bad outings were kind of ridiculous for most of the season. There were a number of games where ranters wanted him pushed to the bullpen and Floyd was easily the second most important pitcher for majority of the season for us. And I still say if it wasn't for the uber tight zone in the 6th against WF we win that game. Floyd delt a near perfect game until that point when the ump squeezed him out of the game which led to us losing that game.

False equivalence

No doubt. That was what I was going for, answering a false equivalence with a false equivalence.

That is my experience with Jay Johnson as the head coach.

me - "That's doesn't make any sense"

me later - "I'll be damned. That shite worked"

We lost to Auburn and Miss State.

This place melted.

I said it was a learning opportunity because it was the first adversity we had faced.

I was laughed out the thread and was told no way we win a regional and a few even said we shouldn’t even host a regional.

Not letting Skenes take a “victory lap” and pitch one out in the Monday game in Omaha. Not starting him was the right call, but him hurling one last out would have been a nice touch.
shite on that. He was here for one damn year. I loved that year but come on. We weren’t the LSU Skenes.

Jay is playing chess while you are playing checkers. Just admit that he will always know more about his staff and what each player is going through on any given day to set the dominoes in motion. Your binder of baseball rules don’t always apply. I’m not trying to be dismissive of your opinion, I’m just trying to get you to be realistic.
