This is a topic that should be at the forefront of the 2024 election. Yet the "so called" leaders of both parties don't want to touch it.

Our system is not conducive for a politician to have the multi decade forward thinking that will be required to lift us out of this debt.
It will mean austerity and unpopularity, guaranteed to lose your second term.

True. It's a system that chooses leaders using a universal suffrage methodology.
It's impossible to be all things to all people and also make the tough choices that are best in the long run.
