Agree w/ all the mexican and bbq recs.

Steak - Georgia James is awesome. Highly recommend. Papa Bros is fine but nothing that you can't get anywhere else.

Pizza - Nonno's is probably the buzziest place. Haven't been but I've heard great things. The interior is designed to look like a 1980s-90s pizza joint.

I didn’t think Nonno’s was all that special.

If you’re looking for Tex-Mex, Candente is where you want to be. El Tiempo ain’t cutting it anymore and Ninfas has taken some of my favorite things off the menu so I have no use for them anymore.

el tiempo has been downright bad outside of beef fajitas last few times i've been. i still like their cilantro rice and their green salsa, but it's been hard to justify $60+/head after drinks last few times i've been.

Yeah the quality doesn’t match their asking price anymore.

I’ll do carnitas from there…but otherwise I’m going to Candente 10/10 times.

Never been…heard good things though. I think they do an all you can eat fried catfish on Fridays.

Their Saturday night special sounds fire too…that bavette.

Truth is amazing. The brisket is perfect and the sides are just as amazing.

We were in Houston in October for a couple of days testing at Texas Children's. Our case manager's husband was a BBQ aficionado and said he would pick Truth over any other place in town.

Just be warned that they do sell out often so it's better to go there for lunch.
