For some reason this topic reminds me of a bumper sticker that was on the wall of Fred's when I was in school that read "Save a whale, harpoon a fat chick".

People do it in other states. Bear is pretty freaking greasy, though.

Coworker have some some bear sticks/mini sausages a couple years back. The taste was ok, but even just one felt pretty damn heavy in the stomach. Was weird.

I tried it once, friend killed one in Canada. It wasn’t very good, greasy and left an aftertaste.Probably like eating a possum.

People in Alaska say a spring bear after hibernation is best.

They eat black bears but not grizzlies.Forgot to ask when I was there.

I'd be for it as long as there is no baiting and no dogs used.

And I think the bear season is a fine idea. I just wish it was 50 per year, at least. Bears were fine in Louisiana up until 5 million people showed up.
when you can see 5 adult bears in a weekend there are too many.

I know not to believe anything a “humane society” says.

In fact, believe the opposite is true.

Animals that don't have natural enemies should have open seasons or they will get out of control.
Rabbits/cottontails are at the bottom of the food chain.
I run rabbits with Beagles. A few years ago there were many rabbits running around.
The government brought in Coyotes, Red wolves, and made birds of Prey a protected species.
Now Peasants, Grouse, Quail are gone. Cottontail rabbits are getting scarce. The hawks have nothing to eat.
Spring of 22, there seemed to be a hawk on every power pole. Now they have disappeared.

NJ cancelled all bear hunting a few years back until a bear to an infant out of its bassinet. The mother saw it and chased it off before too much damage was done.

He’s trying making a point that they are venomous not poisonous. Poison you ingest venom is injected. Kinda the same as gun guys getting all in a tizzy over the use of clip for a magazine.

Sorry didn’t see where lsuballs had pointed this out. If balls’ op had been a poisonous snake it would’ve bit me.

There are a ton of them in St Mary Parish. We see them all the time deer hunting.
