Says McMahon is a good basketball coach. Maybe he is?

But the Rantards said he wasn't! Who do we believe?

But he took over a team with zero scholarship players and had a bad team in year 1! Who could have seen that coming

If he continues to trend up in recruiting…
It’s easy to spot a well-coached roundball team, you don’t need to be an expert.

Such as?
Almost every coach at this level is a “good basketball coach”. The question is can they be successful in the SEC? There is a huge difference between being a good coach, and competing at the top of this conference.
In addition to being a good coach, you have to be able to manage a roster and deal with turnover every year, have to promote your program, have to be able to recruit - which is more than throwing money at players because they’re all getting paid. The question is can he do all of those things in addition to being a good basketball coach. There are a lot of question marks at this point. He’s got momentum and needs to string a few wins together. Beating A&M at home will build some consistency.

All I had to say in the past I’ll say again. Let coach do his thing and when his contact is almost done let it rip one way or the other.

He became a heck of a lot better coach when Cook became eligible.

Why did it take home a 1.5 years to go get a PG. should have spent every available NIL dollar to get one last year. Instead he brought two mid major PG’s with him.

Again change your user name. And your pussy is showing. Might want to cover it up.

Again, you afraid to engage in an actual discussion so you resort to calling me a pussy. You make yourself look very intelligent and reasonable with these well thought out rational posts.
Crickets….

Tigersjump has a point.

I used to think ellessuuu was a McMahon hater but he (she?) is really a Woodward hater because Woodward fired his boy Wade. Now he has to be critical of everything McMahon does, in order to warrant his view of Woodward. The more improvement LSU shows on the court, the more it looks like McMahon may have been a good hire by Woodward. If McMahon wins, ellessuuuu loses. Probably should jut go ahead and change the name to wwwaaadddeee. I still think he’s either Wade’s lawyer or lover. Go Tigers.

Tiger fans are low IQ. Nothing new.
Unreal expectations, too much loyalty to old coaches....

There was a pretty great sound bite from Bruce Pearl a few years ago when CMM was still at MS when they played AU. Bruce Pearl sang his praises as a coach in the post game conference.

Of course this is all correct. But he does not have to actually do most of that. If he is aware of weaknesses, or knows what he loves to do vs. what he hates to do, he can have staff around him to handle much of what you say.
I am not defending Mac or hating on him. Just saying that he does not have to do all of those things.

Haha. Wrong again. Just a long time LSU basketball fan. Sat through a lot of rollercoaster coaching tenures. Found consistency and then we blew it up. That decision has set us back several years. That decision seemed to have been driven by things other than the investigation.
Woodward overall has been unbelievably good as an AD. But look at his track record, he struggles to hire good men’s basketball coaches.

We had no choice to fire Wade.
Woody saved the program.

There are point guards and there are really good point guards.
Cook is really good when he's not going full retard.
Traer Hannibal is a point guard who occasionally has very good games when he goes full Tasmanian devil and stops passing to the other team.
He has always had a point guard and he expected cooks transfer to get approved as the NCAA had always done.
Whether LSU fans want to believe it or not, prospective recruits and their families did believe LSU was facing sanctions so there was a little difficulty attracting top talent.
There are still a lot of question marks about McMahon at this level but those were never likely to be answered last season. We can get some perspective this season, though. ANd if it were bad enough, a fireable season, IMO. It looks like this season will be good enough to keep McMahon unless the wheels fly off unexpectedly. If we win the next two SEC games, he is staying, IMO.
Let's see how it plays out. Next season will absolutely be a determinable season, no excuses.
