DeBoer is 3-0 against Oregon coach Dan Lanning, 2-0 against Texas coach Steve Sarkisian 2-0 against USC coach Lincoln Riley.
To me this is the biggest green flag, particularly beating Sark twice.

HCs who take 4 win teams to the NCG with a Heisman Finalist QB in 2 yrs are usually considered to be pretty good coaches.

The team he coached while in NAIA was like 34-3 the 3 years before he took over. So it isn't like he went in and created a juggernaut.
Ok, now do Washington

So?
He won coaching players of equal ability to their opponents, regardless of level.
He and Alabama will be fine. Will they be Sabanesque in success? Unlikely, but no one else has either.

What is the NAIA, you ask? It's basically playing little sisters of the blind each week.
I know you’re making a joke and all, ha ha. But you honestly don’t have a clue what you’re talking about when it comes to college football.

I think he’s a good coach. We’ll see how he shapes up and what kind of coaches he hires. He will have the assets at Bama to get good hires.
ETA: He’s also going to have help from Saban.

DeBoer might be a genius.
His career record is 104-12. Exclude his first year with a program, and his career record is 79-4.
(When he went 11-2 in his first year at Washington, it decreased his lifetime winning percentage.)
He’s never won in the SEC but he has always been better than his competitors.

The insecurity of some lsu fans is unbelievable.
The dude was a good hire. Will it work out? Who knows. But I’m not sure who were the better options for them.

This is a hot take. It doesn’t matter highschool, juco, Naia I, d3, d2, fcs, fbs. Wins are fricking wins. The amount of work you have to put into your wins is insane. I’d say this is more impressive. The ability to win with not so great talent really shows how good of a coach you are. It’s easier to win with the best athletes.

Eh, I think the guy is a good coach. Regardless of where he built it, his resume is impressive.
Now, you can argue that he’s been going against coaches who were not on his level. That I can buy. How does he fair when he faces coaches that truly are elite within the profession? The only example we have is against Harbourgh. And we all know how that turned out.
How does he fair in the SEC when (most weeks) the coach on the other sideline is just as good or better than you are? Can he match wits each week with guys like Kelly, Kiffin, Smart, Freeze, Heupel, and even Drinkwitz?

Are we pretending he hasn't gone up against Lanning, Sark, Riley, etc.?
Have you checked out his record against those 3 elite coaches?

I don't think anyone thinks he is behind many coaches in terms of his coaching/strategy.
The possible issue is recruiting and acquiring top talent. I mean hell in his brief tenure at UW, he's done more than Kiffin, Kelly, Freeze, Heupel, and Drink have ever done. How many combined playoff victories do those coaches have?

Are you really saying Sark, Riley and Lanning are elite?
1 had been blown out in every opportunity in CFP and ran away from the SEC. One has failed consistently when facing equal competition (except a struggling Bama early this year), and one is Lanning

If we're not including those 3 as elite coaches, then the list of elite coaches is like...Dabo and Kirby, and Dabo ain't doing too hot lately.

The list is longer than that. And Dabo would be on it. I agree. But he’s not in the SEC.
If you take today’s Kiffin and put him at USC, he makes the playoff. I also don’t think making the playoff is the only measurement for being considered elite.
Like I said though, I think DeBoer is a good coach. I’m not sold he’ll have the same success in the SEC that he’s had else where because of the quality of competition and coaches on the other sideline.

Harbaugh? Who was exactly how you described Riley until this year.

Based on what?
Kiffin has never made a playoff game
Sark is a better version of Kiffin and has done more than Kiffin but you put Kiffin over him?

Kiffin is so overrated on this board
-Already flopped at his dream job. Got shitcanned on a runway
-can’t manage a roster full of talent
-Has never had a team with a good defense
-Gets stunted on by good DCs when tScript runs out
-Maturity of a 13 year old using dial up AOL
But but he trolls his own fanbase on X!
His ceiling is like 2010 Les Miles but with a good offense
