If the Lakers somehow finish out of the top 10 in the West does it somehow tarnish the in-season tournament concept? Or is the league just happy to provide another opportunity for a Laker banner?

BTW, haven’t been watching the Lakers outside of when they play the Pels. How do they whoop us by 40 and still lose more games than they win? Seems like we always struggle against them.

I don't think it means anything one way or the other.

There is going to be an insane amount of variance going forward with the IST because you only play everyone once in group play and then it's single elimination after that.

If they made the prize an automatic playoff spot… the intensity and drive to win from everyone would be superb.

I thought it was pretty good as it was.

That’s how cup competitions work over here. Win the domestic cup and you get automatic qualification for the European league.

I think the winner's 1st round pick should automatically get top 8 lottery odds.

When half of your starters appear either drunk, high, or hungover to start the game, you struggle.

I love that an old arse team like the Lakers went balls to the wall to win it, only to be immediately gassed and lose like 10 games in a row after.

The entire thing was created for Lebrons swan song.

He cannot win a 7 game series so the NBA created this other tournament for him to win on his way out the door.

The nba will use officiating bias to try and keep lakers in it but that seems to be just .500 ball at best. If AD misses time, as he does, it’s over.

Pels have their lotto pick so I won’t lose sleep.

I don’t think people give a damn one way or the other.

If it was anther team it would be good for the league because those are games that otherwise wouldn't have been watched by as many people. For example if it was TOR vs SA that's good for the league because otherwise no one is watching that game. But when it's the Lakers it really doesn't matter because that game was going to get a national audience regardless of who they were playing or when.

I think that's too much. Plus what if the winner has already traded that pick. I think the winner should get a 1st round pick. 15th in the draft but outside the lottery.

No the whole point of the jn season tournament is to have something to draw eyes early in the year before the playoff run.

Idk if it did that but it’s not supposed to be a weathervane for championship teams

They should make it the primary tie breaker for playoff seeding.

Excellent. Kinda why soccer cups in Europe so good. Awesome to see the little guys beat the big boys or at least okay with them.

NBA should include the developmental league as well eventually.

It proves just like the covid championship, the Lakers can't go a full season and win a title.

Not positive, but I wouldn't think so. I am positive it would make me extremely happy though.
