Yes there are black bears. Usually they leave you alone. The worst problem we ever had camping was a skunk family who invited themselves to our camp. I would also recommend you stay on the lookout for copperheads. IMO there are lots of them in northern Ark. important if you hike, hunt, or camp. Especially with kids. Don’t think I said but we lived in mountain home for five years. Would love to move back. We still have good friends there

Looks like the direct flight from NOLA to Bentonville is only Thursdays and Sundays…that’s nuts…you’re staying for 3 nights whether you like it or not.

White River system:
The source of the White River is in the Boston Mountains of northwest Arkansas, in the Ozark–St. Francis National Forest southeast of Fayetteville. The river flows northwards from its source in northwest Arkansas. It loops up through southwest Missouri into Table Rock Lake at Branson, Missouri. In Branson the river enters Lake Taneycomo, controlled by the Powersite Dam. The Powersite was the first dam on the White River. The flow continues downstream into Bull Shoals Lake. From there it travels back into Arkansas, and then heads generally southeast to where it flows into the Mississippi River

Northwest Arkansas:
White River below Beaver Dam. It's called the Beaver Tailwater. One hour from Fayetteville to the dam. The White is from Boston Mountains and flows from Fayetteville to one hour to BeaverDam. The cold water comes off the bottom of dam year round year at 45 degrees year round.

North Central Top of Arkansas -
The White River below Bull Shoals dam and the Norfork River below Norfork Dam. These are about 2 `1/2 hour drives from Fayetteville.

One hour north of Little Rock - Little Red River below Greers Ferry Dam.

Some trout water just above the state line in Missouri include Roaring River, Table Rock, Lake Taneycomo, Spring River

Northwest Arkansas Warm water river/streams to fish for small mouth bass include Crooked Creek, Buffalo, the Kings.

Bookmarked. Can’t wait to start fly fishing in the spring again. Been up here a year but was too busy with wedding stuff to have the time.

Yeah it can, back when I was in college in the 80's I lost a friend to that road. Her fault, she was driving too fast, missed a curve and that was that.

A weekend SEC series in Baum Walker is a legit experience for any baseball fan.
It’s the only Arkansas sports scene that is particularly interesting. The other venues are nice but sterile. Baum is incredible.
