I know Lance loves being at LSU and this is not about being guaranteed a certain position.

Then it’s a really bad look quitting in the team and missing valuable practice e reps.

What if Will or Jones gets injured and the next guy up plays where Heard would have? And what if he just balls out? How does heard’s demands look then?

This era of CFB sucks.

It only sucks if you care what 18-20 year olds do when they're not playing on the field and let it bother you. The games are as fun to watch as ever.

This happens all the time in the real world. A competitor offer someone more more and responsibilty than their current employer, Employee
goes to current employer and presents offer and ask them to match offer and they will stay or no match and they leave. its up to LSU.

This is amateur sports...

You're describing the NFL but the NFL has a lot more restrictions...

You can't just tell the coach...im evaluating my role

I’m not saying sitting out is the right call. I disagree with the decision, but these kids have other coaches and family in their ears trying to get what they can get in the moment, not thinking about the big picture.

It was already semi-professional football prior to NIL. Now you have pretty much full blown free agency.

Heard can choose to test the current market for his services if he wishes. The NCAA gave him that opportunity.

This isn't your father's college football anymore.

Nothing to evaluate. Either you want to be a Tiger or you don’t.

They hv the upper hand for sure. It is going to be almost impossible to retain potential great players like incoming top freshman if they don’t play immediately . Since they are making money they should be held more accountable. Like guaranteed contract minimum two years . How else is this situation going to get resolved . It is going to get worse with time .

Well, when 5 freshman play in the SEC on OL they all make all sec. Like my niece got 2nd in the mile with 3 runners and one fell out on the 2nd lap. But she got 2nd. Haha.

This is where I think the NIL money gets too hazy. The NCAA’s approach is that private entities could pay players, but that the schools wouldn’t be involved. But now we have a guy apparently holding out for more money, which the school or coach, ostensibly, can’t give him.
I’m sure that the coaches can ask private donors behind the scenes to pony up some $$$$ for a specific player.
Isn’t this exactly where we were before NIL? The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Well you have a point but obviously part of the recruiting process is promising a certain amount of NIL money. The schools should not be doing this but hey, it’s a Wild West show and a cluster frick. So yeah, the player is gonna bitch to the school and the coaching staff.

Now I suppose Heard’s beef is he thinks he’s supposed to start at LT which is why I say he can carry his arse. But looks like he has a supporter or two in this thread trying to spin it that he isn’t getting NIL money he was promised. Seems like that should be between the kid and his sponsors.

I don't give a frick what his reason is. You don't do it before a game during the season. If he can't unseat the 2 people in front of him then he can wait. he will still get 2-3 years to play and he will be able to mature and be drafted. If he can't wait, hit the road. But you do not reward a player who quits on the team during the season. Period.

Well you fricking forgive me if I don’t anoint the kid “Saint Zalance.” He’s trying to leverage CBK by sitting on his arse in Monroe when he had a great opportunity with ironically, Campbell having the flu.

So that’s why as far as I’m concerned, he can hit the road.

I agree that we should allow speculation to become a false narrative. There is zero information out there indicating he is demanding to start at LT or anywhere else, but if morons repeat it enough here, it’ll gain traction and just muddy the waters.

More likely than not, he’s been approached by another team with a starting LT opening and a fat NIL deal. Get used to this. Teams aren’t going to wait on the portal, they will create the portal.

If Heard leaves LSU, then other schools will come after LSU top prospects even harder with the knowledge that LSU won't pay up. what's to stop ol piss from coming after womack in the spring if he is not starting after spring practice. what about sampsom, someone will want him really bad. this is not an age where you can have 5 star guys sit on the bench for 2 years. Bk wants you to earn NIL after coming to LSU. how can you earn it if you are on the bench? The kids want immediate playing time, the parents want immediate money.
