I saw this and wondered why nobody mentioned Mossberg 930 or 940 waterfowl? I don't own one but some guys I work with do and they swear by them. Do they cost more , weigh more or just suck? Like I stated a lot of guys around my way shoot mossberg.

I really like my Benelli SuperNova.
Bingo. Italian shotgun. Tough as heck. Will last forever especially the way you use it. Turns out I like shooting it better than my fine wood O/U's.
Go get you one today.

FWIW, I bought a Winchester Marine Defender 12 gauge. It was not expensive and I just liked the looks. I put 30 rounds through it yesterday and really enjoyed it. Kicks less than the old Winchester 120 I had which was a bigger heavier gun.

I’ve seen the new M2 get sold for ~$1200.
It’s a little out of your budget but it’s a sweet gun if you like Benelli.

Wanted to give everyone an update. I ended up going with the A300.
When I went into Lafayette Shooters it came down to the A300 Ultima ($950) v. SX4 ($1,099). The guy was telling me they are both great guns with the SX4 having the ability to shoot 3.5. I told him that I would only be using it 1-2 a year and mainly for duck, but he said the SX4 you could shoot geese. Then I asked one of his buddies who was there who had an SX4 what he thought, and he said he just has to clean it often but it was a great gun. Like a lot of y'all said, going in and actually holding the gun was super beneficial. I preferred the way the A300 felt over the SX4 for no specific reason. Lafayette shooters employee then said that the Beretta was slightly better build quality than SX4 and that sold me.
Funny enough when we went with our guide this weekend, he ditched his A400 for an SX4. Like a lot of you said it is purely subjective and based on feel. I couldn't be happier with the A300 and was still able to get a limit of specs with only 3in.

Except I bet there aren't many places out there renting out winchesters. Beretta dominates the super high round count market because they hold up soooooo well.

Thx for the updat, welcome to team beretta and u will enjoy the gun. I have a 391 (essentially an older version of the 300) and a a400. The 391 is my primary waterfowl gun w 3" shells, i shoot lots of greater canada geese and it does fine w 2 or BB. Greater canadas are 50% bigger than specks or snows
I nvr use 3.5. The 391 points quicker than the A400, i like the a400, it cycles so fast but its a little heavier.
For ducks a 1500 fps #3 or 4 will work for your purposes. Enjoy
