JFC I've seen some low IQ takes in this place but these are amazing.

This game is fun to watch. Those two are so good. First NBA game I have watched in years.

Wemby is bad at basketball

Dunked on a 7’1 center after going behind his back and barely leaving his feet. Kid is a freak.

I think you'd expect a little more than four wins at this point from such a hyped player. Is Popovich over the hill?

Admittedly I haven’t been flowing too closely the nba this year, but seems like he’s having a good rookie year.

Same with Chet which surprised me.

The spurs are terrible and a couple pieces away but he has been really good.

Wemby is doing all this while still on a minute restriction too.

Hes the ROTY for sure and should get votes for DPOY too.

This season was never about winning for the Spurs. Only getting playing time, Keeping Wemby healthy and stacking picks for the Draft/ big trades . The team has 3 potential firsts this year and another two in 2025 IIRC. They are going to get better fast, which will make him better too.

Edit: Here's the Draft Capital for the Spurs next few yesrs:

2024:
1st Spurs
1st Toronto (top 6 protected)
1st CharLotte (top 14 protected, will not convey)
2nd Lakers
2nd Spurs

2025:
1st Spurs
1st Atlanta (unprotected)
1st Toronto (top 6 protected, if it didn't convey in 24)
1st Chicago (top 10 protected)
1st Charlotte (top 14 protected, if it didn't convey in 2024)
2nd Spurs
2nd Bulls
2nd Pelicans

2026:
1st Spurs or Hawks - unprotected right to best pick
1st Bulls (top 8 protected, if it didn't convey in 2025)
1st Toronto (top 6 protected, if it didn't convey in 24 or 25)
2nd Spurs
2nd Hornets (if 1st round pick didn't convey in 24 or 25)
2nd (Worst of OKC/Dallas/Philly)
2nd (Worst of Indiana or Miami)
2nd (Worst of NOLA or Portland)

2027:
1st Spurs
1st Hawks (unprotected)
1st Bulls (top 8 protected, if didn't convey in 25 or 26)
2nd Hornets (if 1st round pick didn't convey in 24 or 25)
2nd Spurs
2nd (worst of OKC, HOU, IND, or MIA)

Obviously some of these are going to traded for players, but theres a whole lot of capital there to get better pretty quick.

its tough to criticize wemby offensively because everything the spurs do is a struggle, nothing comes easy. so much of his fg attempts log is late in the shot clock BS because their offense is a clogged toilet

pop stayed on a year to manage wemby’s transition, absorb the losses and keep things positive. I fully expect him to retire this offseason and they hire a young coach to develop and connect to all of the new talent they will have coming in over the next three seasons

the spurs know exactly what they are doing and this is a four year build around a generational talent. just cant let wemby get frustrated in the process

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is the only player in NBA history who matched or exceeded all five marks in a single season. (He was 28 y/o)

He’s a top 30-40 player in the league as a rookie

2-3 years from now he’s gonna avg 30/15/5 easily

my company is based out of SA and my boss will throw tickets my way every now and then. went to 4 games this year, 2 with my family. 2 losses. 2 close wins.

after the wins, he went nuts into the crowd and told us he loved us, albeit, they were a buzzer beater and an overtime win.

i'm sure he knows that he was a first pick which means he knows he's at a team on the outs to begin with.

i will say that he still has some ball security issues and bigger dudes are going to push him around, but he was so much improved in March/April than he was in the fall. Zion and Valanciunas clowned him in the game we went to in December vs. the Pelicans.
