E) 2/12
I wouldn’t be surprised to see Naji back on a minimum deal though. Kelly Oubre averaged over 20ppg last year and had to settle for a minimum deal, and with the new tax rules I don’t see many teams that would throw alot of money out there.

Yeah I agree. To top it off, Naji has a defined role here, enjoys playing for the pelicans and Willie has an affinity for him. Its honestly in his best interest and the pelicans too to just hammer out a solid deal and maybe even below market because Naji prefers to be here.

Denver has traded multiple good players during their run because they drafted so well and didn't have enough money/minutes for everyone. That's a good problem to have and the Pels look like they are set up to have the same problem. As long as they keep drafting and developing well it will be fine.

I think he gets the Tax MLE, which is around 2/15. I don’t think any team is using cap space on him.

Quick math
I think if BI, Trey, Val, Naji and Jose are all extended next season or the next they are looking at around 205-208M for 10 players.
This is assumed Nance and Liddell aren't re-signed.
2025/26 salary
CJ - 30.6M
Ingram - 51.5M*
Zion - 38.8M
Trey - 30M*
Val - 15M*
Herb - 13.9M
Dyson - 7.7M*
Marshall - 7M
Jose - 6M*
Hawkins - 4.7M
*estimates
Not a whole lot of room for another 4-5 players, but I don't thinks its so bleak where decisions need to be made at seasons end.
Let's see if this core is worth paying for.

Honestly, I really wish it wasn't the case, but i dont see Jonas being retained that far out, at least not at that price. IF this core works out and we decide to keep them then i think Griff will go the cheap 5 route since we wont be finishing with any of them.

Tax line is estimated to be around $189 mil.
Unless you think Gayle will become an owner who will go deep into the tax and likely as a repeater, some guys will have to go.
We simply don't have an owner that will pay 4 played $150 mil, just can't see it happening.

No that's why I think CJ will be traded or Val won't be retained to use that extra 45M to smooth out the roster.
Just can't see them giving up on BI or not retaining Trey.

Too risky to wait til next offseason. Teams are trending more and more towards fewer teams having that much cap space to be a trade partner.

we won’t be able to keep Naji. It sucks but Trey has to be the priority.

We aren't going to be a tax team next year with CJ.
It's 2026 when we would be a tax team if we still have Zion/BI/CJ/Trey all making $30M+, and then guys like Herb/Naji/Jose/Dyson/Hawkins/whoever plays the 5
you look at those role players and what they make in 2026
Herb $14M
Naji/Jose lets assume $13M together.
Dyson almost $8M
Hawkins almost $5M
That's $40M, added on to the $150M the other 4 take up and we are at $190M with 9 guys, and we still need at least 2 centers.
CJ would be an expiring in 2026. Like i said, if it's working and we ahve a shot at a championship with him, then you pay the tax. If we can be just as good without him, meaning the young guys are simply better than aging CJ, then you trade him the offseason after next season

If the Pels have a legit shot at a championship, I think Gayle and her brain trust will accept the tax in order to make a move.

Love CJ but he’s getting paid a ton. I think we can stay out of the tax next year if we want but next offseason when he’s an expiring we probably need to look at getting off his money
