ND: while some folks repeat “Derp! She’s not a true point guard!”—Alexis Morris averaged 4.1 assists per game last season for the Tigers’ national championship team.

HVL is currently averaging 5 assists per game.

Well Alexis Morris didn't have Mikayla Williams to dish the rock to either.

Other than her difficulties getting off of high screens and covering super athletic points I’ve been pleased with her. It’s not easy being drug back and forth through screeners. Morris was very good at this. Van Lithe is improving at it though.

No. She appears to be an okay ball handler she's just not getting the assists all the points. That Virginia tech guard was much better than her the other night I like her she's a sound ball player but some of those girls coming off the bench are better playmakers

While HVL is not a natural PG, she's improving every game. Assists are naturally up (5.0) from last year as SG (3.2) at Louisville, but more importantly, her turnovers have decreased from 3.7 last season to 2.6. (Morris avg'd 2.5 TO's, by comparison).

While she's a willing defender taking occasional charges & steals w/little fouling, she'll almost certainly never be a great defender quick enough to stop penetration or get around picks, so she'll need to offset her deficiencies with her strength in scoring. She's marginally improved on her FG% 42.9 & 3P% 32.0 from last year (41.1 & 29.3), but they need to be higher considering the increase in open looks. Her FT% also dipped from 87.4 to 72.7.

I fully believe by tournament time she will have found her groove and will be a solid starting PG.

I actually like what they’re doing now. She isn’t scoring a lot at this time but she is distributing the ball well, she passes well, she handles the ball well and she is very good at the speed of the game (knowing when to slow or speed the game up). Her defense has improved also.

We have so many players who can handle the ball that it levels things out. The only real issue I see with her is her speed or quickness. She’s not very quick or fast. She can get it done though.

I think she needs to start shooting the ball more but that might be something she knows she can do when or if they need it so she’s trying to work on the other things to help the team for now and eventually will add that part of her game. I still think she could shoot it a little more. She’s better than she’s shown so far.

The team needs to start looking for her more because I see her open quite often and they pass her up instead of passing the ball to her. When she’s open they need to pass her the ball and she’ll keep them in a good rhythm. All she needs is a big game or two like Morrow had and it’ll take off for her and the team. I think the team is going to need her to get hot for them to reach their full potential.

HVL would be a better shooting guard, but we don't have anyone better to run point. Also, I'm pretty sure she came here to play point. She will get better.

Kim hasn’t been doing anything but winning titles with basketball teams since high school! I’ll leave who plays what position and who starts up to her. It seems to have worked out pretty well for LSU up to this point in time.

Doesn’t matter what anybody thinks. Only matters to Kim Mulkey and she knows more than we do.

HVL is the better pg. I just wish the team would work the ball back to her for a shot. Instead they seem to freeze her out, causing her to take the shot off the dribble to get the handful of opportunities she does get.

Also, heard CKM say she is dealing with Planter fasciitis. I was thinking something wasnt right and that could be the issue

If so it will be with her all year.

Poa plays slightly better defense. HVL is by far a better overall player but her defense needs to keep improving. I believe she has a hurt foot and that also may be why she's struggling more on defense. HVL has been expending so much energy chasing the other teams' pg that it's also exhausting her on the offensive side of the ball.

HVL is coming along just fine and will continue to improve. She shows flashes of her ability to score when needed. Poa only brings a defensive presence and leaves a lot more to be desired on offense.

What are her strengths and weaknesses playing as point guard? Is POA the better point guard? Not questioning Coach Kim at all, she knows what she is doing. This is just for fan conversation and I guess eye test what we have seen from Haley so far.

You are going to have to get out of the paradigm that we will have a true point guard.

We will be using a combo type guard/forward to push the ball down. She’s not a true point and will never be.

KM knows what's best, but that point guard for Va Tech dominated HVL. HVL can shoot the rock, but her defense leaves something to be desired.

The coach who won the national championship last year, is starting her at a certain position. Do you not think that is enough of a reason to think that she is capable of playing that position? Or are you a better coach than Kim Mulkey?

"Dominated HVL": If anyone noticed, she was obviously limping during any dead balls but as soon as the ball was in play, she was out there doing what CKM instructed her to do. That Va. point guard was a 4th year All American & playing her natural position. HVL is playing PG because that is where CKM feels she can help the team the best.

I am more worried about her on Defense. She is constantly getting smoked off the dribble by Whomever she is guarding.
