Had one stop by our camp in NWLA last weekend around lunch time. He's one of the ones on LA Law. He was nice enough and didn't even ask for licenses I guess because we weren't hunting. But you could tell his small talk was kind of snooping.

This is the same guy who gave one of our members a ticket a few years ago for "abandoning a deer"

The guy killed a doe in the morning and went on an afternoon hunt. Warden came to the camp while no one was there, and the deer was in the ice chest in the back of the guy's truck. Warden said he needed to have a possession tag on the ice chest. Our guy took it to court, and it was thrown out. We don't typically lock our trucks at the camp and the warden went through everyone's trucks and unloaded all the pistols he found.

Some other members of our club got a ticket for loitering when they pulled over on the side of the road hooping for the dogs to come out a few years ago in the afternoon from the same warden.

Here in NE AL it’s always amazing to me that the planting and flooding of the duck WMAs are woefully mismanaged while the biologists/game wardens all seem to hunt ducks on primo private land. Almost like it’s intentional…..

Growing up the one we had by us was cool. He knew everyone and if he stopped you it was to short the shite for a little bit and ask how you did. You had to be doing something really dumb for him to write a ticket. He retired around 2000 and got some you guys. They were pricks and would always look for anything to write a ticket all the time.

Not the same guys but was at the boat blessing and didn't have enough life jackets in the boat. They were counting and a loud boat passed on the other side of them. When they turned I threw a few back into the pile and got lucky, had the perfect amount that was the 2nd of 3 times they stopped us that day. They acted like they didn't remember stopping us the 1st or 2nd time .

Two buddies and I got stopped when I was around 16. We were riding around a farm looking for squirrels on private property. We got out and each shot a big ant bed once. Here comes Green Jeans. He roars up and starts the threats. He was convinced we were shooting doves out of season. He searched my buddy’s jeep for the doves. He threatened to call one friend’s parents because he didn’t have his hunters education card with him and got laughed at. He was pissed he couldn’t “get” us. I’m still glad he didn’t find our 1/4 in the glove box. The funny thing is my buddy driving the jeep is now the game warden for our county.

My baseball coach was a Warden and he used our camp. His son and I were classmates.

Many years ago, weekend before duck season opened, dad and I ran the bayou and shot a pile of ducks.

While we’re in camp burning off the ducks, the door opens, it my coach in his warden uniform. We look back, he looks at us, says, “I’ll be back later,” closes doors and leaves.

All of my interactions with W&F agents have been friendly. Had one lady agent waiting at the dock inspecting licenses, registration, gear and ice chests when I pulled in after a rough day where I didn’t catch a single keeper. She posed for pictures with my empty ice chest and I texted the pics to my buddies. She was a good sport.

I have property in St Helena with a 14 acre lake. About 5 years ago we had a beaver problem. I put out 2 traps. Went to check one night in early January. One trap had a beaver. Shot him in the head with my 22 magnum Single six.

About 15 minutes later leaving my gate and the local deer hunting club members are blocking me in from leaving my place. They thought I was night hunting deer. I kindly told them to move out in front of my truck or there’d be severe consequences. I pulled my AR out of my truck just to let them know I meant fricking business.

They said they called local green jeans. I told them I shot a beaver and I was leaving. Green jeans stopped me a few miles down the road.

I told him my story about the beavers. We went back and I showed him the traps and dead beaver. He wrote me a ticket for trapping without a license and killing a quadruped at night. $700 tickets total.

I waited until the next year of opening weekend of hunting season. My and about 5 buddies shot tannerite and a bunch of short barrel rifles all weekend of deer season. fricking deer hunting nazi’s are the worst

Ran into a GW and making small talk he ask where I hunt. When I told him he was able to tell me about every stand on my property.

Apparently while investigating some outlaws 2 properties over to my north, he stumbled onto my neighbors property that had an active feeder going prior to turkey season. The GW then not only explored my property but set up on my property every morning at the beginning of turkey season trying to catch my neighbor.

At this point I expressed my displeasure. First thing is my neighbors don’t turkey hunt. The feeder was for hogs. Secondly, opening days of turkey season and he’s going in and fricking up my place trying to catch ghost? If I’m not suspected of committing a crime, stay the frick off my land. Just because you hear a shot or see someone is actively hunting is not probable cause enough to come on private land and frick with me

Not my deal but a childhood buddy and his dad got in a heap of trouble in E. TX about a decade ago.

They were squirrel hunting on family land on opening day. A man rolls up on a quad and approaches them. Buddy and his dad decide to make a citizens arrest of the fellow for trespassing and hold him at gunpoint with their .22's.

Turns out the fellow was a plain clothes game warden but even after identifying himself they continue to hold him at gunpoint and call the cops themselves to continue the citizens arrest (like many here, they also took issue with GWs rolling around on private property at will).

Well the warden I guess has a radio or something and sends out an SOS or officer in distress or whatever. I'm told every sheriff, police, trooper, park ranger, texas ranger, dog catcher, security guard, et al within 50 miles shows up on their little dirt road.

As you might guess this isn't going to end that great for son and dad. They get arrested of course. Make the local news. Spend a year to two in the courts attempting to challenge the ability of a GW to enter private property willy-nilly. The dad has to sell house to pay legal, becomes a felon, loses his firearm rights. Son fairs better. Criminal record, no felony. Has to write an apology and read it out in court in front of a bunch of GWs (bit odd but thats what I was told). Oh and I think the dad was holding an elected position at the time that he lost.

Back in the day when duck hunting in the atch wma was good we were coming up the river at night, pre gps no radar, w a 4 man limit of ducks. Green jeans pulls us over. We show him the 24 ducks and he asks who shot what duck ... ffs, so we put them in 4 piles and with the rt number of hens and species in each pile. GW was a little pissy and then checked everything, we were good and off we went. Generally i have no issue w GW but cmon in the dark middle of atch river half assed raining and u want to know who shot what duck .... the only thing i do know is my dog retrieved them all

Was living at the camp and threw an ice chest in the boat on a random Tuesday after getting home from work. caught 2 reds about a mile from the camp when I get stopped by wardens. Older guy training a younger guy. I hand him my fishing license (MS) and he looks up at me and says "buddy this expired yesterday". I didn't even think to check but at this point I was technically an out of state resident in possession of redfish without a license. He then opens the ice chest and there are about 20 empty beers from a mardi gras ball the previous weekend. I explain to him that I have had a few but most of the empties are from Saturday. He agrees that I would be stumbling had I drank them all.I wasn't planning on being out until dark so I wasn't worried about the lights but now this stop has taken so long that it's getting to be dark and he tells me to turn lights on, of course my stern light won't come on.

The older GW says to the trainee "I'm going to let you make the call on what tickets to write him"

I'm thinking "frick me, of course young guy is going to want to write them all"

Trainee says "I could tell by the look on his face that he didn't know the license was expired, let's give him a warning on that and just write a ticket for no lights"

Older GW looks at me and says "today is your lucky day, renew that license when you get back and get that light fixed before you use the boat again. I'm going to pull you over next time I see you and check both"

They did confiscate the two reds but I didn't care I was just thrilled to not get a giant ticket. GW did follow up on his promise to pull me over and check it all a few months later.

I’m on private land in the wilderness for the purpose of gaining solitude and privacy.
The work of the green Jeanerette tax collectors are 100% against the intent of our constitution

As to whether I’ve had any weird encounters- I was given a ticket instead of a warning once because all of my dad’s tickets were on my name in error. We don’t even have the same middle name!
I avoid encounters with game wardens altogether. I’m a guy who goes out of my way to follow the law and be an ethical Hunter, yet every time I see those dudes they are trying to nitpick their way into a ticket

We had a logging road we walked to our stands on one year, the loggers had rutted it up so bad you couldn't drive it so we parked off a blacktop and walked.

One night I'm walking out in the pitch black dark (no light) and Green Jeans jumps out of the bushes about 5 feet from me.

I about shite myself Thought it was a bear or something.

I was all legal and we got a good laugh but damned man come on

In college I was dating a girl during the summer, but honestly I think she was just using me for my boat lol.

One sunday after a night out at the redeye I took her and a few friends on a half arse fishing trip. I was obviously trying to keep the girl happy and she finally caught a redfish but it was undersized. She threw it in the box anyway. We get back to the dock and there was an agent, dude must have known I was trying to get some because he looked in the box and didn't say a word.

I have had them stop me once and they had an older guy and a younger guy do a very extreme good cop bad cop routine. The older guy was demanding I show him my "secret compartment" and the young guy was just shooting the shite with us.
