I would buy the CA mesa for 999$
Your getting cerakote finish over SS barrrel as well as adjustable trigger without removing the stock.
I have one in 300wm and it’s a sub moa gun with corelokts.

What's wrong with it

They’re lawyer-proof. I’ve seen vids of them pulling 4.5 lbs from the factory, which you can adjust down, but the adjustment screw is covered in nail polish to let them know you did it. Some people are finding they can’t even get close to 3lbs without the adjustment screw falling out, so I’d be nervous fooling with it when they obviously didn’t intend for it to be user adjusted. There’s an aftermarket spring kit, but same deal. Frustrating cause they have great features and are one of the few companies that still believes a hunting rifle doesn’t need to be 9lbs bare shooting 1/2 moa, but still enough options out there I’m not gonna spend $1000+ on an xbolt to then have to work on the trigger and them wash their hands of it if there’s an issue. On an XPR or AB3 it’s more understandable. You’ll look like a goober with a Lyman gauge at the counter, but if you could find one pulling 3-ish lbs from factory that’s a killer budget gun.

I bought a browning last year and hated the trigger. Considered the spring kit but ended up just putting a Timney on it. Love the set up now.

I must've gotten a good one. I find the new model 70 trigger to be plenty good enough, but I have no interest in adjusting triggers so I never paid attention to glued screws or anything.

Sport tiger, do you have an email you don’t mind sharing? Tigerdroppings needs a dm option.

A 3-4lb trigger on a hunting rifle is more than adequate.

I bet that Marlin 336 I have in 35 rem is over 6lbs if not pushing 7lbs

Kimber hunter in .308 has not been mentioned and should be on your short list.

is it going to stick around? I would be scared in 10 years it'll go the same direction as the WSM family

I'd have the same concern. I've considered converting a Savage Striker handgun to 6.5 PRC, but I handload so I won't have to worry about finding factory ammo. OTOH, I'd have concerns about availability of 6.5 CM HUNTING ammo. During the ammo shortages, I've sometimes seen a lot of 6.5 CM ammo on the shelves, but a lot of it used bullets w/ mixed reviews for hunting big game. Given your 2 options, I'd go 308 Winchester and never look back.

If I was going to buy a new rifle I would probably buy the Browning A-Bolt Speed.

Get a 308 for sure.

Personally I would take that $1K and find a handloader to handload 1K worth 270 WSM for you.

I would also go 3006 over 308.

I have a Winchester XPR in 6.5 cm. I love it. The thumb hole makes it so comfortable to shoot freehand.

Not at that price point, begara is cro moly unless you step up to the higher end series.
I have a b14 ridge and it’s not even cerakote but sort of matte blue that will rust if not slathered up with frog lube. I will get it cerakoted at some point. But even with that moisture and rain will get the inside if not babied.
