IMO God is not punishing anyone for anything (That will come later and it won't be punishment it will be judgement)

What's happening is people and nations are suffering from turning away from God, not in the sense that he's punishing them for doing so but when you turn from God you cast yourself to the mercy of Satan, who rules this world (for the time being).

In this world there will be suffering but be of good cheer, Jesus has over come this world. He is the way.

100% spot on.

Everyone believes in climate change. It’s a naturally occurring event. It’s a part of this creation.

I suppose it's just how you look at it. God isn't actively hitting us but he isn't choosing to magically absolve us of the consequences of our actions.

Have you guys read the article? The author's conclusion seems to be that God might be punishing the USA because of our recent foreign policy, i.e. the US is retreating from its role as World Policeman.

I knew God was a neocon

Things really started heading south in 2016 when a demagogue inflamed misplaced greivances and harvested a reactionary populism.

Why doesn’t God punish China or Russia then?

There are plenty of Christians in Russia and China, however, America was founded on Christianity. it's written into our government at every level. We're supposed to be a beacon yet we've become a stumbling block.

It's better to be hot or cold than lukewarm. We're being spit out because we espouse the teachings of Jesus for some things but completely embrace sexual immorality and all sorts of perversion for others.

You think God preferred when we were enslaving people?

I don't believe God is punishing us, we are collectively allowing ourselves to be punished. I also believe He no longer will bless our land, He will leave us to ourselves.
Faith is the currency which God operates, and the number of people with faith is a fast dwindling number.

If God punishes us, the Jesus' sacrifice was meaningless. Turning us over to our sins, however, is another story (Romans 1 24-28).

The Bible, even the New Testament, is pretty clear that slavery is tolerated, freemen are preferred, but you are obligated to be righteous first and foremost.

Well people make choices, and when they turn from God, there is consequences to themselves and on a larger scale, to society.
Once a large majority of society chooses to turn from God, they will sow the repercussions.

The people who subscribe to this notion are ignorant of the Bible and common sense. Israel hasn’t existed outside of the last 75 years or so for 2500 years. Did God punish the Romans, and numerous other civilizations that have controlled the Promised Land during that time span? He did not, Muslims have controlled the area for essentially 1500 years. Islam is growing at a faster rate than Christianity, are they being punished? Israel turned its back on God and has been suffering the consequences for nearly 3k years. The United States like every other civilization in the history of mankind will rise and fall just like they have but that’s the lesson in all of it that faith will remain

You didn't read the article.

The article is not about a group of individuals living in a country turning from God.

The article explains in a very compact essay the essence of the Neo-Conservative world view that now dominates US foreign policy decisions. This Neo-Con worldview has dominated US foreign policy actions for decades.

It's firmly rooted in Senator John McCain's worldview that the USA was bequeathed an important role after WW2, and that role was and is to serve and the World Police in order to protect Western Democracy and spread it across the globe.

Of course, McCain was a supporter of this world view, not the inventor.

The author of the article suggests that the USA's mission of serving as World Police is actually a "mission from God", and, that, the current turmoil and troubles of the USA may be linked to God's Wrath in response to the Sin of not serving well as the World Police.

I thought that people would enjoy reading the article and commenting on the article.

IMHO the article is very timely because we have a POTUS election next year. IMHO this Neo Con issue is extremely important, and we should figure out how the candidates position themselves on this issue.

My hunch is that the voters won't have a real choice between a Neo Con believer and a candidate who rejects Neo Conservatism in a desire to move in another direction. I suspect that both the Dem and GOP POTUS candidates will be Neo Con disciples.
