She sold a billion in concert tickets, most ever by anyone, and she’s hot.

Surely you can see why she’s popular.

She’s basically a teenage girl pop hero. Regardless of our opinions, she is at the top of the world in that regard.
Why Kelce is interested is kinda weird but he seems like an attention whore of sorts so it makes sense

No SHE didnt....she doesnt get a cut from the aftermarket ticket sales

quote:

With an average ticket price of $253.56 (that's the face value; Swift doesn't get a cut of the astronomical resale prices), according to live music trade publication Pollstar, Swift has sold over $600 million in gross ticket sales in the U.S.

Well what was the infatuation with Elvis? The Beatles? Michael Jackson? Donnie and Marie?

She’s no different than any of them and a hundred other pop celebrities. Some loved them, some hated them. Who really cares?

Sure she did. And I didn’t say she gets 100% of the sales. That’s silly.

She caters to young teenage girls. I find it creepy that Kelce is into her.

She is as good at marketing as Madonna. But Taylor is a better singer. Plus she writes her own songs.

She catered to teenage girls 10-15 years ago. Her fans have grown up. They are now in their 20s and 30s.

I think the question is why

Usually an artist either has a a huge sex appeal for fairly unique sound/act to get to that level

She doesn’t seem to have any of the above. It’s not that she is bad, but I don’t get either why she exploded

Adele and Gaga aren’t sex appeal either, but their talent and sound is fantastic. Spears amd Jlo didn’t have that much of a talent but their sex appeal was off the charts

Swift is none of the above

I haven't read the rest of this thread, so forgive me if this was already stated.

but she's like the "perfect" storm.

she's not smoking hot, but definitely not ugly either.
so that makes her "pretty enough" to get by on looks, but not so hot that half the women in the world automatically hate her.

he can sing, but isn't the greatest voice either.
so again, that makes her definitely good enough to hold her own, but at the same time, not so much better than everyone else as to really get all the haters.

her songs aren't really country, but country enough to get that crowd since it's where she got her start. they aren't really pop, but pop enough to bring in that crowd. they aren't R&B, but has juuuuust enough soul to get some of that demographic.

Miley Cyrus should have been this big, but she let the whole world know she's fricking crazy. and chopped off her hair, grew out her arm pits, etc. Taylor is probably equally crazy, but only lets you see hints of it. she lets you see juuuuust enough to know she's probably nuts without letting you know she straight fricking batshit. kept her "innocent" look that sells.

then she tiptoes that line of "I'm just like all you teenage girls" and "I'm a grown successful woman" which helps bring in both of those groups (and their dads or husbands).

Madonna has written most of her own music. She’s written a lot for other musicians including Britney Spears.

Madonna has not written most of her music. At least not her 80s/90s hits.

Every single die hard Swift fan at work is either hefty, single, or both. And she is all they talk about outside aside from work. It’s very very strange.
