The #Saints  have agreed to terms with DE Carl Granderson on a four-year contract extension, source says. The former undrafted free agent gets long-term security with the team that signed him back in 2019.

Compensation update: Saints are signing DE Carl Granderson to a four-year, $52 million contract extension that includes $35.3 million guaranteed, source said.

I love it. Granderson has been great. Somehow we draft all these d ends and the only one that ends up being good is the undrafted one.

Very smart move. He is the player they tried to draft in Davenport and Turner.

Waving the white flag on Turner.

I’m glad we are keeping him, decent deal for his contribution.

Future salary cap is going to be crazy.

Good move. He's what we hoped Turner and/or Davenport would become.

Granderson being good and keeping him could have nothing to do with turner. If turner returns and he's good, may keep him too

Smart move.

Have been calling them to lock him up on a cheaper deal.

Good move. Grand has progressed nicely. Became a force and leader on the D line. Happy for him and his family.

$35 mil guaranteed that’s top 10 for the position

Hendrickson was 4 for $60 with $16 mil in guarantees

Fantastic deal! Loomis smartened up and didn’t let a rising star get away like Hendrickson did. He would have gotten $15-17 million per on the open market so this is a great deal for the Saints.

Smart. He leads the league in pressures. If he stayed top 5 in pressures and finished with double digit sacks he probably would have gotten $16-$17M a year on the open market

And he plays the run well, something Trey had trouble with. Payton Turner it was not nice knowing you. Now we can focus next year’s draft rebuilding the OL and drafting the BPA. Hopefully Foskey just needs a little time to adjust to the NFL because he’s a perfect candidate to be Cam Jordan’s successor at LDE.

I didn’t say it was a bad deal

We stuck by him through his troubles and it paid off biggly. Great bargin!

At the end of the football season, defensive end Carl Granderson of the University of Wyoming looked ready to embark on a promising NFL career. Granderson had a productive collegiate career, recording 16.5 sacks, 36 tackles for loss, 3 interceptions, and forcing 3 fumbles. His size, athleticism, and production had many experts predicting he’d be drafted in the middle rounds and perhaps even a Day 2 selection.

Unfortunately, Granderson found himself mired in legal problems just before the draft. He would plead guilty to sexual battery and would receive a six-month sentence. Those issues caused him to fall out of the draft, but New Orleans took a chance and signed the undrafted Granderson to a three-year contract.

Better value contract than what we gave Ruiz for sure. Very fair for both sides.

Don’t think it has anything to do with Turner. He took the next step and is a good young player. Still need Turner to pan out. Cam won’t last forever.

Nope. Its a good deal whoever we have at DE. And Turner will be back next year trying once more to finish a year.

AAV is only 13M though. That's a bargain for a good starting 2-way edge
