getting my kids acclimated to PS5

two part question here-
first, what's a good way (either game or a demo) for a 5 and 8 year old to acclimate themselves to the PS5 system and more specifically the controller?
second, please recommend some games good for that age and possibly something adults would enjoy too.
thanks in advance all!

I can't speak to PS5.
I can speak to Nintendo Switch. Tons of games; Mario Kart, Mario 3D World, Yoshi, Luigi's Mansion 3, TMNT SHredders Revenge, Animal Crossing...the list goes on and on.
Switch is the place to get them into gaming.

Sackboy is fun multiplayer game. It takes two is another good one.

Me and my son played the Lego Starwars games together on PS3 when he was 7 or 8 to get him started. We both had a blast.

No idea why nobody has suggested this. There's a built in game for exactly this purpose.

Unravel Two is an excellent multiplayer game, some very mild violence and peril but otherwise a great co-op experience for all ages. Controls are reasonably intricate, but the game is designed such that players of different skill levels can succeed.

Get your kids set up in td012069’s little private group. He gives out free games to kids in exchange for friendship

The little robot game that is pre installed on the system is actually designed for that purpose. Plus it's pretty fun.

Astrobot is the answer. It is free and my son completely beat the game at 3 years old. He still loves it to this day.

I would recommend Astrobot and Sonic Mania.
I've also done the higher tiers of PS+ and my 6 year old really loves playing LocoRoco.
We've tried some other games, but they were honestly a bit too hard for them.

Just let them play. It won't take them long
