Your son is playing college ball and you’re request things from the head coach? That seems insane.

Sad thing his son is a freshman in hs and he's not in college. I thought he was a troll at first, but a buddy of mine is a booster at this school and actually got wind of it.

That being said, he told me that due to my son being an offense guard, #18 would be unavailable. I told him that in the new college rule book any player can wear any number they desire. He said he hadn’t heard that but would look into it.

It’s been 48 hours and I still haven’t heard anything. Should I make another appointment with him?

Holy shite, give it up. The coach has WAY more important things to do than consider giving your son a number. He probably doesn’t want to because then he has to give every kid the number they want.

This dude has to be a troll.... or unbelievably retarded.

My son requests his HS # (4) when he goes take recruiting pictures at colleges…they wouldn’t give him that # IRL though.

Sounds like a good way to ostracize your kid with both the coaches and players.

In high school the jerseys are normally sized by the number. A #18 is likely sized for a WR and no offensive guard would fit into that jersey.

So purchasing a New Jersey that would only be worn by your son and then trashed, rather than getting 5+ years of use?

Plus open the flood gates for everyone else to want to change their number?

I would cut your son to avoid having to speak to you again. With you as the father, he probably licks the goal posts.

Dude has a lot going on during the week. Call him Saturday morning and if you can’t reach him, go find him to discuss in person.

I just hope he understands the importance of #18. Sounds like you do at least! Earlier reply about seeing him in the morning was on the right tracks. Maybe bring some kolaches.

While I'm 90% sure this is a troll, in the off chance that it is NOT a troll, I recommend you run out on your family so that your son no longer has you a father figure.

I guarantee his life will be better for it.

For sure. His bio even mentions three times that he’s a travel ball coach.

It was a good troll, initially. Put this one to bed and come up with a new one.

You should make an appointment with a therapist instead. The time and energy you've expended on this...

Here’s what you do.

Have each player on the team show up to coach’s office the day before the game with their jersey in hand, starting with #18. They should say “I want (Your Son’s Name) to dress for me, coach” as each of them lay down their jersey on his desk.

Worked for Rudy.
